Cigarette and alcohol licenses

Cigarette and alcohol licenses

A license to sell beer, wine and spirits costs 1,100 baht a year, while a license to sell foreign cigarettes and a separate license to sell Thai cigarettes cost 20 baht each per year.

These licenses all expire on December 31 and must be renewed annually.

To obtain any of these licenses, you will need to apply at the District Office for the area where the bar is located.

You will need to bring with you the original and a copy of your ID card or passport, and proof of the restaurant/bars address, such as a copy of the house registration papers for the restaurant/bar, or a copy of the rental or lease agreement.

A deposit can be demanded.

If all supporting documents are in order, your application could take as little as 10 minutes to process, and usually no more than a day.
