It is no longer a mystery any more about the land crossing into Cambodia from Thailand at Aranyapathet-Poipet Border. From Bangkok, "Aranyaprathet" is over 200 km from Bangkok to the West. It takes around 4-5 hours drive from Bangkok.

There are direct flights to the capital of Phnom Penh from Bangkok, Hochiminh, Kualalumpur, Singapore, Hongkong, Vientiane and Guangzou. All of these cities serve as gateways to Cambodia meaning Cambodia is easily reached from further a field. Cambodia can also be reached by road from Thailand and Vietnam. Another exotic way to reach Cambodia is by river boat or sea cruise.

 

Direct flights exist from Bangkok to Siem Reap, the home of Angkor Wat.

Border crossing by car Malaysia - Thailand

The Malay-Thai border crossing - The North South Expressway drops you right at the border at Bukit Kayu Hitam. This border carries much less traffic than the crossing at Singapore. However do expect delays at the usual peak times and on public holidays. Note also that this border is not a 24 hour border and closes at  midnight Malaysian/Singaporean Time (11pm Thailand) daily.
