On a recent trip, the visa applications were handed out on the aircraft along with arrival/departure cards.
Just mark business visa in the appropriate place.

There is a counter with about 10 attendants ,just hand over the application/passport and cash ,wait at the right hand end of counter for 10 minutes and your in like Flynn

Thanks ozzydom, theat's simple enough even for me to handle!I make make my 1st visa run to PP instead of making the visa run from Pattaya.

Have you had good experience with E Visa Aussie? I personally haven't tried them. Isn't it just as easy to get a visa on arrival?

I would imagine its no easier as your still going to have to have it converted to sticker for passport at immigration anyway. And knowing the border crossings there will be maybe an unofficial "convert to sticker" fee. Can't see the point in it myself.

The e-visa got two advantages, 1. At some border crossings it can be hard to convince the officials that the visa is $20, with the e-visa that's not a problem and 2. it doesn't take up a page in your passport (no, there's no sticker).

The Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok moved 2 years ago and still have not updated their site. it's here

518 Pracha Uithid Road ( on the corner across the road from Family Mart and a motor cycle taxi stop )
Wnag Tong Long

Phone: 02 957 5851

Get the MTR to Huia Kwang, get a taxi or motorcyle taxi. Regular taxi takes 30 min, motorcyc;e taxis takes 5 to 10 min. Both cost 50B.

You tell the gateman you want a Visa. Go in fill out the forms, they don't worry if you can't fill in all the info. You wait 30 min and you have your Visa.

Business Visa 3 months is USD$35, they'll gety more out of you by telling you it's 1600B, just smile and say,"$35 dollars, OK." Same scam as at the borders. Love 'ém.

Embassy staff are very friendly.

Cheers for that, just the sort of info i was looking for.I totally agree with your points. For people without a thai wife,i dont think the anxiety of not knowing whether you can stay,& so plan long time makes it worth staying.
I went to cambodge for a months travel on my own in 2003 so maybe a fair bits changed.I think i had one of the hardest journeys in the back of a pick up truck with 15 others, from stung treng to kratie.I was so bad it was good.
A few more questions;
Considering i would be taking my asian girlfreind with me,is it fairly safe?(I have the slightest of feelings that i'm irresponsible taking her there as she says up to you to everything i say smile.gif )
If i wanted to rent a cheap apartment monthly where would you recommend with good internet access,& what sort of price for a one room with attached bathroom?
What personal internet options do i have, with reliability?

Cheers again

Apartments do not usualy come with internet access , but there are so many internet cafes around that should be no problem for you . I have a 2 room apartment with good sized balcony , everything included , furniture , cable TV , cooking facilities , large fridge etc , have to supply your own cooking utensils , pots , pans etc , good sized toilet in room(that works) . Rent is $120.00 a month plus electric , water , cable and cooking gas , comes out at about $45.00 a month , i have my own old computer in the room , have a reliable ISP , rent a phone , $8.00 a month and never get bothered by any-one .
With the no-hastle visa and friendly people , Cambodia living is a breeze compared to Thailand , never been approached by police , never confronted by local drunks , ex-pats are friendly , you can start your own buisiness , become a resident in 5 years , own property , sit back and relax .

I live over the river on the opposite side of PP andf love it but rent is a bit more. $450/month includes internet ( a $75 value) maid service 2 times a week and a balcony overlooking the Toule Sap river.

I have seen in town what under $200 gets ya and i would not stay there. They are all the same, one living room with the bedroom in the middle and no window to the outside ( only to the living room) and a balcony overlooking the street. bathroom and kitchen sometimes outside ur apt . Expect to pay upwards of $300 for one in the riverside area.
Electric ranges from 720 riel/kwh ( offical rate) $.18/hour up to 1,500 riel ( thailand is 3,5 baht/ or $.10/hour). Internet where u nee dot work with runs an average of $50-200/month and is not as reliable as u will get in Thailand.

Food in most western areas is $4-6/dish Cambodian places u can get a good meat and rice dish for $1.0 and Soriya has a food court where dishes average $1.50

I have met many westerns here that have thai wifes and g/f's and there is no toruble although all miss home.
Land ownership is same as Thailand and u CANNOT own land. They are juts starting to alloowing Barangs to own condos but there are very few of those to be had.

PLenty safe but dont walk around late at night or ride ur motobike in dark areas as there are LOADS of Cambodians that ride around and steal ladies bags and such. The traffic has to be seen to be believed!!

ALSO BE AWARE there have been more than few recent OD's recently from westerns thinking they are buying coke when in fact is pretty strong H so stay away from that and stick with the easily obtained grass

I beg to differ , my $120.00 apartment has a window in the bedroom , two windows in the living/kitchen area , the balconey does not overlook the street , the bathroom is a decent size inside , my internet has given me practically no glitches in three years , I have a full size 2 door fridge , nothing that is broken/does not work , have a problem , fixed same day . This is not easy to find I will admit , but for $2/250.00 you can get practically the same quality . I have village property in my name .

Was this the site that you got your e-visa from?
and i guess there were no problems with your credit card?
There just seems a lot of chat on other forums but not any real
feedback about the new web site. thanx

Still a little unclear for me, can I get a visa on arrival at PP airport when arriving from Thailand? I am finnish citizen and my other half is British. Only going to Cambodia for a week's holiday. Flying in but travelling out overlands. E-visa out of question.

the reason we like the e-visa is that the normal visa on arrival is a sticker that takes a whole page in your passport
