PM climbs over fence to leave Parliament
(BangkokPost.com) - Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat had to climb over the fence of the Parliament to leave the site on Tuesday afternoon after People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) blocked all entrances to the venue to prevent all the cabinet ministers, MPs and senators from leaving the ground. Mr Somchai, accompanied by five or six followers, left the venue by going through a senate building before climbing over the fence using a ladder. He passed through to the Wimanmek Palace, which was situated next to the Parliament |

Many here seem to find excitement posting as Thailand slips into anarchy, brightens up your dull days I suppose. So what is the credible alternative? Be careful what you wish for...it rarely turns out as you anticipate.

This is probably the most responsible move that Big Jiew has ever made for the good of the country. If only he had resigned when he forced Burmese students and dissidents back over the border to Burma, many to their death, torture, disppearance and imprisonment. Or resigned as Army chief for his mounmental balls up at Ban Rom Klao, that led to reportedly 600 + Thai troops being killed. Guess the old boy has mellowed with age, if he feels "I want to show my responsibility for this action" now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ermm.gif)

And this was the guy who was supposedly responsible for the peace talks between the government and PAD that, he said, were still going to move forward toward a deal...despite the recent PAD leader arrests???? Seems NOT...

I've never seen so many politicians with such a lack of intestinal fortitude. If what they think they are doing is right, then they need to accept the consequences of these actions. Do you think the police are going to throw marshmellows at them?

By their particular view of face / honor, he IS showing intestinal fortitude.
His job went south on him. He was told to do X, X didnt' work, because he was told to do Y, Y want very badly ascew, So he must take one for the team and get knocked out so the 2nd string quarter back doesn't. |

Anybody knows why he left? Just my opinion:He was probably going to quit anyway so they all got together said to him. "As a parting gesture why don't you order the riot police in, pick the dumbest oaf of commander you know, we get our building back and we'll see that your pension fund is topped up!" Fixes several problems! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) |

Yes that's it...
If I understood well the Bangkok Post, in fact he took the responsibility of the dramatic police attack on his shoulders... and then left. |
