I note that it is a requirement below that aliens entering Mynamar have to change 200US$ eqivalant into local currency on arrival , how does this work out on an in/out visa run situation? I can't imagine anyone going to Mynamar on a visa run if this is required.
It also says below can only arrive by air and sea, also a contradiction on what I read vis a vis visa runs to Mynamar. Anyone any ideas? From Iata database : / 16OCT08 / 0626 UTC National United Kingdom (Great Britain) (GB) Destination Myanmar (MM) Myanmar (MM) Passport required. - Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be valid on arrival. Visa required. Compulsory Currency Exchange: - A minimum of USD 200.- has to be changed into local currency on arrival. For details, click here Additional Information: - Travel to/from Myanmar is only allowed by air or by sea. - Children over 7 years of age mentioned in the passport of a parent must hold a separate visa. - A tourist visa is only valid for a maximum period of 28 days. You need a crisp new $10 bill plus a photocopy of the ID page from your passport - that's it. |

Same goes for the border at Mae Sod, you just pay the fee. No need to change money.
Visa run? Don't you mean a border run (leaving Thailand and comming right back)? A visa run is when you leave Thailand to get a new visa at an embassy or consulate. |

Changing $200 into FECs used to be the practice in Rangoon airport for international arrivals, but it has been stopped. Border crossings only require money for visa fees.
