Mr Jaran said hundreds of Buddhist monks will perform religious rites at designated spots nationwide. Preparations had been made for Thaksin to phone in to talk to his supporters simultaneously at every spot. In Bangkok, there would be a ceremony at Sanam Luang, where 60 monks will chant a prayer for a long life for Thaksin, he said. continued at http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/14...n-60th-birthday ![]() -- Bangkok Post 03/07/09 |

All other exiled leaders died abroad... he's not exiled, just a typical criminal that doesn't feel like serving time or standing in court to face the other charges. So not quite on the exiled hero type level...more along the lines of the guys who go hide in Spain or Brazil. |

All becoming alarminly cultish. Has been for quite sometime actually. Actually several 'exiled' Thai leaders did come back after quiet times,, kept a very low profile and died in bed alone and quietly. A very few never came back, but many did. The deal typically has their silence and withdrawal from ALL political functions as paramount to re-acceptance. Million person petitions were never countenanced. But most of them were much less SELF-EXILED as Thaksin is. Pomegranates and rotten apples. Grand plans: One roman candle with him in it? Guy Fawkes deja vue? Take the money and run? Use the million signature petition to paper his cell? FOOD FIGHT! ? Fry and egg on the hood of his car in the desert? Fly in Chalerm and do 20 rounds of Siam Sunray? Fly in Somchai and have the staff do an endless treasure hunt for his balls? Fly in Samak and eat too much Pork in Coke, and talk about nose-jobs gone wrong? Hang up the Newin Pinyata and grab sticks? Fly in Porntiva's crew from Posiedon and do what they do? Face the music and dance? This post has been edited by animatic: 2009-07-03 23:03:11 |

Rumor has it that Thaksin used Jacko's cutman in UAE and is cruising the Makati area near California Pizza - opposite Gold's Gym - dressed in all-white aerobic tights und cowpoke hat & boots!

Thaksin plan to create a huge birthday celebration just like he his the king of the land. Watch out for the LM police, they might charge him for that. Remember he got into trouble when they orchestrate taxi drivers to wave mini Thai flags when he visit them a few years ago. Critics were saying that such act should only be reserves for the king and his family. Nope.More likely he gets pardoned rather than charged. Thaksin is vely good for thailand, every bargirl and farmer in the north knows that. He has so many supporters (and money) and he starts getting some kind of "cult-status in LOS. |

Indeed this is very much like a cult now. The reds have abandoned any polical ideology and expose themselves as 100% Thaksin's front. I wonder how those reds who claim to be on a polical mission and who arent Thaksinistas will react to what has morphed into a quasi "theological" cult with Thaksin as God?
It is as usual though good PR and we all know that worldwide cults attract people and usually attract adherents who are comopletely uncritical and in awe. It is going to bve very hard for anyone to respond to the establishment of the Thaksin cult. Even if the rumours of his cancer are true he can announce his succesor as supreme Godlike before he pegs it. |

A disinterested person reading the comments calling for Thaksin's demise or comparing him to Kim Il Jung and Hitler, would wonder as to the sanity of such people making these wild and exaggerated statements. Do you people ever stop to consider what your comments reflect? Whatever, Mr. Thaksin's sins and faults they are no more than many of the people currently in power. And yet, I do not see any of you clamouring for the death of various military generals or condemning various ministers past and present.
I would have respect for your views if they were at least consistent. Thaksin is an easy target. However, I dare any of you brave self appointed defenders of democracy to go and confront one of the army generals and tell him what your views are. You won't because you are scared of the ramifications. Instead you piss all over Thaksin because like good bullies you can get away with it. The constant cheap shots at the people of Isaan, the Redshirts and Thaksin speak to your arrogance and ignorance. People do not follow a leader like Mr. Thaksin unless they feel disenfranchised and without hope. Treat the supporters of Thaksin with dignity and respect and stop exploiting them, and you will see Mr. Thaksin's support disappear. More importantly, I defy any of you to put your identities behind your pleas for Mr. Thaksin's death in a public statement, such as a newspaper ad, instead of hiding in an anonymous forum tossing cheapshots. You won't because you are cowards. Talk is cheap. If you are that unhappy go out in public, stand up and say something. |
