Ladyboys On The Rise

Amongst the usual cat calling on other threads someone makes an accurate observation namely that in the last say three months the number of Ladyboys in Pattaya seems to have increased exponentially.

Does anyone have any rationale explanation for this?

Dunno always been heaps of katoeys in Pattaya - hadn't noticed the increase.

In the hard economic times, the niche business might be more profitable. Yes I noticed the increase as well, anyway not my type of biz.....

I agree Tarqin, during a recent visit to Walking Street I was mobbed by Ladyboys offering their services. However I doubt that their presence has risen exponentially, maybe by 50% at most. For this 'rise', I have no exponation.

to be honest i think theres been an increase over the last few years,either that or a lack of girls around. a lot of guys have wised up(a bit), and send there honey home(up country) and check them too, when there not in thailand

It's been more like the last few years. They're everywhere now. I think
we're actually in a period of gross oversupply. I don't really care for
their incessant trash talking, so specifically avoid places that employ them,
as most entertainment places in fun-town are hurting for customers, it

When into 'crossroads' bar on Soi nernplubwan the other night and the place was full of them the only 'female' was the cashier.

It was full of Bennies trying to be Miss Diane !

Some guy from Syria I talk to once in awhile on the beach, who has been visiting Thailand for 20 years , said all the ladyboys got kicked out of Phuket.
So they all came to Pattaya.
Mabey someone in Phuket can verify if this is true.

It just occurred to me... Pattaya has got to be the place on earth with the highest consumption of Viagra per capita. Makes me wonder if the drug is voided through the urine and can enter the water table (after treatment) much as with female hormones (such as prescribed for HRT or birth control). If so, just drinking the water in Pattaya could 'give you rise...' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Definitely more and more. Now on second road just past soi 8 they have "shows" and a small stage or two similar to that Malibar bar. Seems every other bar has at least one. I guess that is fair. They try to cater to all interests.

Originally I would have discounted the 'supply and demand' theory since for many years, it has always had a minority appeal. However, looking at another 2 or 3 forums, where there are whole sub-forums dedicated to discussing katoey charms with pictorial evidence, I would suggest that their customers are a fast-growing minority. Without opening the 'gay or not' can of worms, there appears to be a whole new generation of 'mongers' that avail themselves regularly of katoeys particular skill sets and consider it to be totally normal and no different from p4p with the real ladies of the night.

The increase seems to coincide with the tsunami at Phuket. Due to lack of tourism after the event, many moved to Pattaya. Since then the number has grown out of all proportion.

Soi 6, an area I personally do not like, is being taken over by katoeys, I have been told. When I was trying to walk up the back road Soi 6/1 and a 6 foot silicone enhanced katoey blocked my way as he tried to sell his wares. I had to force my way past, while keeping my hand on my wallet. The comments that followed me were not polite!

Well gee whiz Sherlock, if you weren't such a pussy about walking up Soi 6 where the preponderance of totty still leans towards the truly female and not chosen to walk the WELL KNOWN TRADESMAN'S ENTRANCE FOR BACK-DOOR SPECIALISTS WITH MEAT & TWO VEG route of 6/1, you wouldn't have had to run that particularly scary gauntlet, eh?

Yes, the ladyboys are on the rise, and curiously the numbers of young, feminine men in Pattaya are declining in Pattya.
