I want to teach English in or around the Chiang Rai area either as a volunteer or
paid person. I am interested if anyone can recommend facilities or places, both private
and public. If anyone is currently teaching or has taught... provide specific commentary
as to dos and donts of various teaching opportunities. I spent 5 weeks in Chiangrai recently
but would like to return and give my time and energy to helping

I know you said Chiang Rai, but if you are interested in becoming a volunteer English teacher in Chiang Mai and would like to receive a long-term visa and work permit, you may be interested in our volunteer option:

Don't forget that you will need a work permit to do volunteer work. You can be arrested, fined and deported for volunteering without one, even if it is for a government school.

You can also get support from Chiang Mai University if you would rather not use a commercial operation......

I read both websites.

SEE charges nothing for the their volunteer option. CMU charges 15,000 THB.

SEE states they will obtain a work permit for their volunteers. CMU doesn't states it will obtain a work permit. Do you obtain a work permit for your volunteers CMU?

SEE's volunteers volunteer through a Thai foundation. CMU's don't.

I also wondered at including a .com address and somehow claiming that you are *not* a 'commercial' operation....
