Oh dear here we go again. England = Britain = UK. England = England. Sad that English people are the only nationality in the world who do not know their own country's name or borders. Off-topic, but what is the name of the island? Britain? Great Britain? If the latter, is there a non-great Britain, too? |

I want to see the f..... go to jail simply for one reason: If it had been average Joe who had committed these crimes he would have gone to jail with no questions asked!!!
What I want him to go to jail for the most are the more than 2500 extrajudicial killings he ordered in his "war" against drugs. He said back then that he's gonna clean Thailand within 3 months!!!!! of drugs. This just proves that he's a delusionla megalomaniac. And someone who's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fricking stupid and handles his criminal activities in a way that even the stupiest person on earth can see right through it simply DESERVES to rot in prison for the rest of his life. I pray to god that the U.K. won't grant him asylum and send him back to Thailand to serve his term. What I can't understand is, that there are still Thais who support him. I mean how the hel_l can somebody want a criminal like him to reperesent their own country??????????????????????????????????????????????? |

Criminal fugitive in one country, human rights refugee in another - someone's gotta be wrong. Hey why wasn't Gary Glitter, a resident of Britain, given this kind of treatment? Even if he did do the nasty stuff (quite likely) the process that convicted him was surely corrupt. I agree. Glitter should be allowed to live next to you and your family. Taksin can live next to me. |

Now I understand why every one want to go to UK.
Looks like the ignorants and stupids all emigrated to Thailand. But you don't care that the economy is in tatters since Sept. 2006. As long as you can rant. To quote myself from the other thread when the news was first posted:
"It's not like the UK isn't accustomed to granting asylum to criminals, very much like Canada." |

Two thoughts/questions here... 1. How does one claim political persecution when one's own party controls the government and one's brother-in-law is prime minister??? 2. What status is he in Britain on now??? And if they don't grant asylum, what difference would it make? He's there already...they're not going to kick him out, and it would seem, the Thai govt isn't even going to try to extradite him on the various charges.... Exactly. Has there ever been anyone in the history of this earth claiming political asylum from a country they still hold a valid diplomatic passport for? You would hope this one doesn't even make it past the application stage - he's simply a criminal on the run. |

He wont have any trouble getting asylum considering the number of despots already here in government. A nice sizable donation and maybe it will be Lord Thaksin in time.

Off-topic, but what is the name of the island? Britain? Great Britain? If the latter, is there a non-great Britain, too? There is more than 1 island in Great Britain. There used to be a lesser Britain too - the northern part of France known as Brittany (or if you're French, Bretagne). We gave it back to the French when we got bored with it. There is a Far From Great Britain a few thousand miles to the west that was first colonised by the Welsh - but we left shortly after a hotch potch of other non-idigenous started pouring tea into the sea. It's still there and still as fuc_ked up. I hear they've progressed to piping tea and coffee up their arses now. |

Off-topic, but what is the name of the island? Britain? Great Britain? If the latter, is there a non-great Britain, too? This can be very complicated to explain to people that are not from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. But here goes. The Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom are the only two sovereign states. Ireland and Great Britain are both islands. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are constituent countries of the United Kingdom. You have the basic idea. There are many other islands in the British Isles. Most of these are politically part of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, with the exceptions of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, which are British crown dependencies and not part of the UK (or ROI) at all. Complications The UK's full name is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". Citizens of the UK are called "British". One British person is called a Briton. The ROI's full name is "The Republic of Ireland" (if you are speaking English) or "Éire" (if you are speaking Irish). Citizens of the ROI are called "Irish". Irish citizens are not British citizens. British citizens are not Irish citizens. God help you if you forget this when you encounter an Irishman. Ethnically: People from England are called English. People from Scotland are called Scottish. People from Wales are called Welsh. People from Northern Ireland are called Northern Irish. People from Ireland are called Irish. There is no such thing as English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish citizenship. English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish people almost always hold British citizenships. Of course, anybody, living anywhere in the British Isles, can have any ethnicity, and hold any citizenship. Many people living in Northern Ireland (which is part of the UK) are Irish citizens. Some British citizens living in Northern Ireland (which is part of the UK) classify themselves as Irish-ethnic. Some people living in Northern Ireland would even like Northern Ireland itself classified as Irish i.e. made part of the ROI instead of the UK. This is a contentious point. The ROI is not British. However, the "British Isles" include both the UK and ROI. Irish citizens and Irish-ethnic people hate this, but there is no consensus on what to call it instead. So where is Taksin appyling for Asylum. LOL Cheers, Rick |

I'll publicly burn my UK passport outside the Bangkok Embassy if they are granted asylum. I'll join you...... You can also send email to Info.Bangkok@fco.gov.uk which is the British Embassy in Thailand to voice your opinion. |

I want the home office to give them passports and hope they pump some of that 200+million into the UK economy. Absolutely no way.....they must come back to Thailand where the 200+ million should be shared amongst all those who have never voted for Taksin or TRK or PPP parties. Those that voted in favour of Taksin or TRK or PPP parties don't deserve one satang of it. |

No way is he coming back.
I also want to come see the passport burnings at the Embassy. How is this being received in the UK? Is it even in the papers? Are there threats of mass passport burning demonstrations in England, Great Britain, or whatever? I am not a patriot of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but I feel you. |

Interesting that he did this step AFTER the Arrest of Chamlong Srimuang! Any Connections here? Is Khun Chamlong also welcome to apply for a UK passport? I could be a handy "get out of jail" pass. The former was smarter he left BEFORE anyone could get that idea! However, as many may NOT have realized that the 9 core leaders of the PAD, filed appeal against the arrest warrants and the "treason" claim! The court will hand down it's verdict on the appeal TODAY in the afternoon sometime! |

Oh dear here we go again. England = Britain = UK. England = England. Sad that English people are the only nationality in the world who do not know their own country's name or borders. Bulls**t.....I'm British and know it. I was born in England of a half English, half Scottish father and a half English, half Irish mother. My passport is issued by "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" commonly known as "The UK" and inside it says Nationality: British Citizen. The United Kingdom of Great Britain consists of a Union between England, Scotland and Wales plus some outlying islands making up the geographical area "British Isles", "Britain" or "Great Britain". You are always British first, English, Scottish or Welsh etc. second..... But why we don't have a national British football team beats me and sadly here in Thailand most Thais only seem to know names of countries football teams hence the use of "I'm English" or "I'm Scottish" and never "I'm British". And if I'm getting my history timeline correct "The English" aka Angrit came to Thailand before the forming of the United Kingdom. |

It's complicated and 40 years since I studied geography...... |

Interesting that he did this step AFTER the Arrest of Chamlong Srimuang! Any Connections here? Wonder if the coincidence isn't with the appointment of Peter Mandleson, to the Brown government. He was the chap who was "alledgedly" involved in fast tracking citizenship for the Hinduja brothers after they "donated" 1 million pounds to Mandleson's millenium dome project |
