This afternoon the line kept going on and off (2-3min on, 2-3min off). Gave them some time in case they are working on something and router resets did not help. Called True this evening on 02-900-9000 and got through quite fast to a person (Mr. Patachai - not sure about spelling) who spoke very good English. His suggestion was: Take out the splitter from our line for at least one hour and run the ADSL router directly on the phone line. (No problem since we don't have a phone on this line anyway, only a dial-up modem on a PC connected to the phone outlet of the splitter) Since I run directly now without splitter on the line everything is just fine. My question is: Why did he suggest the one hour thing? Does he think our splitter has a problem or has it something to do with their set-up? In the past few days the domestic speed has gone up to 170-180% of our subscribed speed but international remains at 80-90% as usual. Could this have something to do with this? opalhort This post has been edited by opalhort: 2009-05-10 21:21:53 |

Did that occur during the heavy thunderstorm around 4pm this afternoon?

Ugh. How much do I hate True.
I managed to get rid of their mobile system and their crappy UBC service, but there really is no alternative for internet in my area. They blocked every company that tried to compete with them here from installing their relays at the local exchanges.... The recent speed increase (which they only did because their IPTV service does not work for anyone I know who has it) was a nice surprise, but it's evident their tech guys and their network simply are not up to the job of a high speed network. Nor has their customer service department for any area of their business had any training at all. What a hopeless hopeless company. In any other country I'd simply refuse to pay for downtime periods, but they simply would not even be able to grasp the concept as these kind of Thai Companys with their stranglehold on the market, and no competition simply don't understand customer satisfaction or consumer rights. I am currently rebooting internet at home about once every 10 - 15 minutes. |
