Changed circumstances in NZ and the need to change - studying language/culture, no immediate rush to consider working for a living; hiding out in the hills behind Chalong, running Big Buddha every Wednesday, cycling the back roads and swimming at Nai Harn. Not a bad life to have.

Triathlons, swimming, running on/off road, road cycling - at a social level now but have competed since 1988 in distance sea swim events throught NZ and in Australia.
Motorbikes - until moving have owned (Hinckley) Triumphs and numerous Japanese road bikes
Music - cds and live bands, movies
Studying Thai language and culture, helping with local water safety programme for under-15s.

Swapped west (Karon/Kata) for east, and now happily settled on lower slopes of Big Buddha hill, Chalong side; I am local 'tall man on bicycle', terroriser of local canine population, diner at the cheapest roadside places :what? 45 baht, you're joking!", regular sight cycling my Chalong-Prom Thep-Nai Harn-Chalong loop - look for the fluoro singlet, and Wednesday ritual of run to top of BB and return. This will likely be death of me, and would request I be cremated at the top and left to the winds to disperse . . .
Former NZer of mixed descent (aren't we all) even some Australian in there, in no hurry to return and for now content with my life here, list of things to do keeps growing; focus on improving Thai language, diving, staying alive on the road, keeping out of trouble with the ladies.
