Post Net Shops

I have seen a number of these shops around, particularly in shopping malls,

and assumed that they were the Thai Postal service, expanding its visibility.

I went to post an airmail letter to the UK today, the normal price is 28 baht with 2 sheets of paper inside.

The Post Net charge was 38 baht.

When I queried it I was told there is 10 baht service charge 35%

Needless to say they won't be geting my business again.

Astral,

The first three postal rates to UK for a normal airmail letter are 17, 24 and 31 baht depending on weight of course.

Where are these Post Net shops? In Bangkok? I am in Khon Kaen and haven't seen one here.

Do they sell stamps etc and have a handstamp for cancellations, or are they just a receiving point and take what they have collected during the day to the nearest PO themselves. (if you're lucky)

I'd sooner trust a real PO, and trust is a relative word.

I've seen a few around. There's one at Tesco Rangsit, another tucked away beside a restaurant on Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Road. Probably heaps of them, just that they're very small.

I'd pay the extra 10 baht rather than stand around for 20 minutes to post a letter at the Post Office in Future Park for example.
