  1. I miss the Asian Koel here outside my Issaan village. hardly hear one a few days/year. What really annoys me are the roosters in the village, luckily none around my house for the last 10 years. But more and more houses are built within 300m. The end is near I am afraid... Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

  3. The Catholic Church killed millions during their conquests : The Americas, Africa, I guess it was not their intention. Google the Albigensian crusade (1209-1229) ordered by pope Innoncent III.An unknown crime by most Catholics. When I was 11 I had to follow lessons for my "consecration?" Into the Catholic Church. The little booklet "Catechismus" we needed to learn by memory was full of rubbish from page 1 on. I did read other religious books on my younger years, also the Koran. All are full of rubbish. It is sad that 5 or 6 billion people are brainwashed into criminal fairy tales as of birth onwards. Here lays the essence of human stupidity. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  4. Happened to me once from old Don Mueang to Bang Sue railway station. Noted it already on the highway. Meter showed 300B arriving at the railway station. I was in a hurry, train I needed was arriving whilst I still had to pay him and run with my luggage. Al I could do was curse the man... Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  5. What instrument Billy Graham played? Good one. I did not read far into Richard Dawkins God delusion., When I learnt about his scale and he gives himself a 6, that ended my reading. Since I give myself 7 I don't bother anymore. It's not religion that should be outlawed, I am rather convinced mankind is an error of evolution, Henry Gee wrote a book "The Accidental Species" I need to buy that book, maybe we have the same idea? Religion lives in the brain, probably only humans are affected. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  6. This is completely wrong. Believe systems are education bound. I was raised in the breast of the Catholic Church, I doubted all the insane things I was forced into. I do not "think" there was a "Creation" My daughter is raised by her mother as a limited Buddhist (the Thai way). I will make sure she won't drown in the believes of kharma, réincarnation, monks and lottery numbers (as her mother does). Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

  9. Casper' s Roadhouse, 1 km beyond Big C on the ring road but on Big C side. Opposite Siam Grand hotel. If heading towards Khon Karen you need to U-turn after Thai Watsadu and drive back 1 km. Ample parking in front of the group of townhouses. BBQ spare ribs. Tex Mex food, shoarma, skewers, hamburgers, spaghetti, lasagna and pizzas, Thai food. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  10. Fruitman, your comments are getting ridiculous. The banana shop I refer to is not your usual banana shop. I am not going trying to explain you anything, except there is a price on every bunch in that shop. My gf wants to run a shop for as long as I know her, that's 15 years, and the bananas concept from THAT shop is just one of the things she wants to sell. So as far as I am concerned your comments are a worthless bunch of crap.

  12. That banana stall is 8km from our house and better quality than the usual talad nat bananas. GF already made a deal with the banana shop owner to buy from them. The shop she is building will be at the front of our property, a bell will do when she will not sit under her umbrella listening to a radio. Even in the village many more people set up small food stalls as compared to 1 year ago, something is going on and it is not that the region is booming. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  13. Impressive increase of number of small shops in rural Thailand. I don't know if this is happening everywhere around Thailand, but it is here. We live for 10 years now 40km from Udon Thani, the nearest amphur is 10km away. I drive up there a few x week and noticed at least 10 new small shops alongside the road, mostly food: fruit stalls, kay yang and som tam. But also 2 aircon shops and one battery shop. A family that sells bananas, from 50 to 100B the bunch, I now buy bananas there 1 or twice a week, nearby other side road someone else made also a small banana shop (i never stop there), next ground sells plants and flowers. All of that was not there 1 year ago, even not one month ago. Are people getting desperate for income? My gf has been complaining over the last 10 years she wants to open a shop in front of our door on a road connecting villages. It used to be a quite pothole road, now black top was redone twice and lots of trafic. She spent 30k B sofar on having a shop built, coffee, bbq, bananas, will see what she will try to sell. I told her she will never earn her investment back...and to "you want to sit there from 07 to 19h" she replied "I close any time I like" 100m from our place a lady set up some hangers and sells cheap (second hand) clothes "sometimes" when she needs some money?
  14. I filled her up at my usual petrol station, meter showed 1520 and the lady running the pump told 1620 and this in Thai at my wife in the passenger seat. I am always fully awaken at petrol stations, so was my wife, they did not get away with it. No doubt this was intentional. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
