My retirement in Bangkok seems to be cast in stone but the need for a coastal refuge remains.

For varying reasons Pattaya and its environs, Hua Hin, Samui or Phuket don't tick all the boxes and I was wondering if Bang Saphan might fit the bill.

Essentially, I am looking for peace and quiet but in an environment where some farang entertainment may be found. I have never been to the area but from what I can glean the beaches look beautiful and the water clear although I do recall that flooding occurs periodically.

Have any members spent much time there?

Any comments would be very welcome.

I hear ya. I just got back from Bang Saphan to check it out. It is OK, but not much to do. The beach at the Southern end is pretty nice, but not nice on the Northern end.

Ban Kruit, just north, is pretty nice. I actually liked it better than BS. Nicer beaches. But nothing to do.

I stayed at the Coral Hotel in BS, which was OK, but not great. Few people there right now. Can't remember the name of the place I stayed at in BK...Rachadavee or something like that. Really nice resort, but about 1800B per night. Hardly anyone there also.

Have you thought about Koh Chang or Samet?
