Livestock Development Department confirms Thailand is free from bird flu

The Livestock Development Department confirms that all regions of Thailand are free from avian influenza after its third inspection.

Livestock Deputy Director-General Chaweewan Liewwichak (ฉวีวรรณ เลียววิจักขณ์) reports that since the first inspection on March 15th 2007, authorities have thoroughly sprayed chemicals throughout the province; from then on, there were no reports of H5N1 epidemic.

Ms Chaweewan, however, has asked for cooperation from fowl raising farmers to keep their farms clean in order to prevent the strain of bird flu.

According to the recent 3rd inspection on June 17th-July 31st , 42,525 out of 48,664 of samples from dead fowls and poultry droppings report negative, while the remaining sample is being tested.

Thats good news for broiler farm owners.
Perhaps the EU will allow more chickens to be exported from Thailand?
