Inserted below is a link to the Cambodian E Visa Site.
Online applications for Cambodian Visa can be done from this page. This is for a Single Entry Tourist Visa. This site also contains information regarding costs, processing times and Valid Entry and Exit points for use with the Visa. Cambodia E Visa #2Posted 2007-10-04 09:12:12
More info on business visa:
You need to get a one month business visa to start which costs, officialy, $us25. Unoficially it can vary if your using a border crossing also need two photos or you will be charged extra. After this you can apply for extension of 1 month, 3 months, six months or one year. Only 6 months and above are multiple entry and you can extend business visas indefinately. Cost is around 25us, 40us, 70us, 140us, 12 month can't remember. The extensions are easiest to get from an agent as they are mass processed but you can go to the ministry across the road from the airport if you want to save a minimal amount. The biz visas are easy to get and all you have to do is write an occupation on the application which will be approved and issued on the spot. If you have a tourist visa you will have to apply for a month biz visa before you can get the longer biz visas - you have to start off with a one month biz visa first and even though its one month you can apply for extension after a couple of weeks. #3Posted 2007-10-04 22:12:03
Have you had good experience with E Visa Aussie? I personally haven't tried them. Isn't it just as easy to get a visa on arrival?

Have you had good experience with E Visa Aussie? I personally haven't tried them. Isn't it just as easy to get a visa on arrival? I would imagine its no easier as your still going to have to have it converted to sticker for passport at immigration anyway. And knowing the border crossings there will be maybe an unofficial "convert to sticker" fee. Can't see the point in it myself. #5Posted 2007-10-05 20:39:31
I guess I was thinking of arriving at the airport - it's easy to get stamped in there on arrival - $25 I seem to remember

I guess I was thinking of arriving at the airport - it's easy to get stamped in there on arrival - $25 I seem to remember Yes the E-visa is 25 USD, and yes they have special lanes for e-visa holders, but in practice the time gain is minimum, as for instance Phnom Penh airport isn't busy, and they are very fast in issuing the normal 20 USD tourist visas. #10Posted 2007-10-28 10:11:45
Does Cambodia have any provisions for permanent residency?
#11Posted 2007-10-28 10:19:42
Have you had good experience with E Visa Aussie? I personally haven't tried them. Isn't it just as easy to get a visa on arrival? Used it and made it 10 times quicker and easier, I had my visa in under 24 hours and it arrived in my mail box on a Saturday. No more big stickers in the passport just a tiny stamp!! #12Posted 2007-10-29 07:59:13
Does Cambodia have any provisions for permanent residency? There is no specific provision or visa category for permanent residency, however the business visa can be renewed indefinitely without leaving the country. 12 months costs $250 - $265 depending on which agent you use. As a previous poster stated, the 6 and 12 month visas are multiple-entry. No checks of any kind are made on applicants for the business visa and the only documentation required is the completed application form, photograph, and papers bearing the portrait of dead American presidents! I strongly recommend using an agent rather than trying to enjoin battle with the Immigration Department yourself. It doesn't cost much more, and Immigration have been known to give people who apply in person the runaround (presumably because they don't then get the kickback which the agents pay them). The business visa easily enables you to open bank accounts and get Visa/Mastercard debit and credit cards - though a security deposit is usually required for the latter. Accounts may be held in either Riels or US dollars, and certain types of account can offer fairly competitive interest rates. There are almost no restrictions on foreigners owning and operating businesses in Cambodia. You can own 100% of the business, without any requirement for local shareholders, partners, agents, or employees. You are also allowed to work in your business in any capacity, and may employ other foreigners (quite a few places have Vietnamese or Filipino staff, for example). I also understand that it is now possible for foreigners to own property, but the law was only passed a few weeks ago and precise details are still a little sketchy. Phnom Penh is a very congenial place to live, and I find the Khmers to be pleasant, friendly and tolerant on a superficial level. They are not as nationalistic or as overtly xenophobic as the Thais - you will hardly ever hear the word barang for example. As with the Thais however, it is not so easy to make anything other than casual Khmer acquaintances. Some things in Phnom Penh, such as good Western booze, wine, and books are considerably cheaper than Thailand, though the selection of books is far better in Bangkok. Food is about the same price or a little cheaper than Thailand, and there is an abundant choice of good-quality eateries offering the whole gamut of Asian and Western cuisines. There are also a number of really nice open-air cafes and bars, serving good coffee, alcohol and food ( a legacy of the French). However, there is not as much low-cost street food available as there is in Thailand. Supermarkets are fairly well-stocked with a good selection of Western comforts. Accommodation can often represent better value for money than Bangkok, though you may have to shop around a little. Electricity and home internet connection are more expensive than Thailand, particularly the latter, and connection speeds can range from acceptable to erratic. Prices are however coming down and connection speeds improving, as more service providers enter the market. Although medical care is not quite as dreadful as it used to be, it is still pretty awful and is also much more expensive than Thailand. A few of the international clinics have expat or reasonably competent local doctors, and they can handle routine primary care. There are well-stocked pharmacies, which will dispense anything you want without a prescription. Although the pharmacists are not usually as knowledgeable as those in Thailand, the cost of medicines can sometimes be significantly cheaper. You need to make sure that you have medical insurance which includes a provision for evacuation to Bangkok or Singapore in an emergency, or for treatment for anything other than minor conditions. Most places outside Phnom Penh are far less developed with poor infrastructure. Only Siem Riep and Sihanoukville have much in the way of Western-style amenities, and except perhaps in Siem Riep, you can forget about medical care. More info on business visa: If you have a tourist visa you will have to apply for a month biz visa before you can get the longer biz visas - you have to start off with a one month biz visa first and even though its one month you can apply for extension after a couple of weeks. I was told by a travel agent in Phnom Penh that you can no longer apply for the business visa while in Cambodia on a tourist visa. You have to apply before entering the country. Do you know if this is right, and, if so, is it still just as easy to get a business visa without any other documents? Ted #16Posted 2007-12-31 08:16:11
Thanks all,
I am starting my 3rd year living/working in Thailand. However the messages re: living in Cambodia seem to indicate a less problematic approach to life than what X-pats in LOS must adhere to if we want to be allowed to remain. #17Posted 2008-07-31 22:27:18
Hello all,is it still the same deal with the business visa in cambodia-$25 for the one month biz visa on arrival at pp airport, then you can get another 6 or 12 months as you wish via travel agent?
If so what are the fees now for 6 or 12 months? cheers for any help. #18Posted 2008-08-01 01:46:50
Yes get the business visa for $25 on arrival and then apply for the extension.
i just was over there for a month, rented an apt, got a 6 month muitple entry visa for $140 at a travel agent, you can get them done everywhere, 1 year is about $250 I love it there The people are friendly the atmosphere is like Thailand 25 years ago. Only negative is the food is not as spicy but since i have my thai gf going back with me she can cook for us. After 24 years here in Land of Smiles i have had it with the problems to stay and Cambodia likes Barangs unlike thailand where they just put up with us Also i found the expats are more easy going and Khmers are much easier to meet and socialize with Its hard to explain, you just have to go to see also after holding a visa continuesly for 5 years u can apply and GET Cambodia citizenship whch allows you to buy land and get a passport. try that here Edited by phuketrichard, 2008-08-01 02:15:08. #19Posted 2008-08-01 16:59:07
Cheers for that, just the sort of info i was looking for.I totally agree with your points. For people without a thai wife,i dont think the anxiety of not knowing whether you can stay,& so plan long time makes it worth staying.
I went to cambodge for a months travel on my own in 2003 so maybe a fair bits changed.I think i had one of the hardest journeys in the back of a pick up truck with 15 others, from stung treng to kratie.I was so bad it was good. A few more questions; Considering i would be taking my asian girlfreind with me,is it fairly safe?(I have the slightest of feelings that i'm irresponsible taking her there as she says up to you to everything i say If i wanted to rent a cheap apartment monthly where would you recommend with good internet access,& what sort of price for a one room with attached bathroom? What personal internet options do i have, with reliability? Cheers again #20Posted 2008-09-04 22:05:23

I have a 2 room apartment with good sized balcony , everything included , furniture , cable TV , cooking facilities , large fridge etc , have to supply your own cooking utensils , pots , pans etc , good sized toilet in room(that works) . Rent is $120.00 a month plus electric , water , cable and cooking gas , comes out at about $45.00 a month , i have my own old computer in the room , have a reliable ISP , rent a phone , $8.00 a month and never get bothered by any-one . With the no-hastle visa and friendly people , Cambodia living is a breeze compared to Thailand , never been approached by police , never confronted by local drunks , ex-pats are friendly , you can start your own buisiness , become a resident in 5 years , own property , sit back and relax . #22Posted 2008-09-04 23:01:22
More info on business visa: You need to get a one month business visa to start which costs, officialy, $us25. #23Posted 2008-09-11 10:20:28
The Cambodian Embassy has moved to the road which is a continuation of Ramkhamhaeng Soi 39 (Pracha Uthit?) just around the corner from the Laos Embassy. You will be asked for 1100 Baht for the tourist visa, or if you have US dollars its 25 while you wait or 20 for 2-3 working days.

If I arrive in PP,what is the procedure to apply for the business visa?Is it done on arrival at the airport and if so,what is the procedure?I am considering a move to Cambodia as it's more receptive to foreigners regarding visas than Thailand. TIA for replies. John Edited by LTGTR, 2008-09-21 13:15:23. #25Posted 2008-09-21 13:23:20
On a recent trip, the visa applications were handed out on the aircraft along with arrival/departure cards.
Just mark business visa in the appropriate place. There is a counter with about 10 attendants ,just hand over the application/passport and cash ,wait at the right hand end of counter for 10 minutes and your in like Flynn |
