Only one company in Pattaya meets my standards and that is Home and Pool, i always use them although i always give some of the others a chance to quote and show me their work, none come close, clean, quick, professional, top product - medium price, unlike all the other jokers in Pattaya who are poor product - maximum price.
i do not doubt your words but "clean, quick, professional, top product - medium price" is not specific at all. the same applies to prices per mē which do not take into consideration pool depth, quality of tiles, grout width between tiles, length of piping, wall thickness of piping, filter and pool pump.
i have seen pools lined with shitty tiles and a grout width of up to 2.5cm! that's why i specified 3-4mm and got 3-4mm. there are 2HP top quality pool pumps for 24,000 Baht (e.g. Hayward) and el cheapo versions from China -same capacity- for 4-6,000 Baht. some people want a pool to wade in it or rather shallow because of their children, others want to swim.
summary: in my [not so] humble opinion any pool builder who quotes a price based on surface area without discussing the requirements/demands of his customer and/or describes his equipment as "high capacity" or "high quality" without going into details disqualifies himself.
that also goes for companies who submit a quote for a specific pool feature for 258,400 Baht, when questioned blame the total on a typo and adjust the price to 158,400 Baht which is still 25% above the price published in their website.
When you ask for a quote from Home and Pool an Engineering team comes out to do a proper survey using proper surveying equipment, theodolite etc, and then within a couple of days they will provide you with a fully itemised quotation, around 20 + pages in total which includes perfect scale drawings so you get a very accurate idea of how the pool will look in relation to the property, also all items used such as Pumps (Hayward), valves, lights, drain covers, filter, control box, lighting transformer, even the vaccum head, pole and net skimmer are shown, etc. etc, are listed pictorally with a full technical description of what they are/performances etc, a truly comprehensive quotation which leaves you in no doubt as to what you are getting!! Full terms & conditions including late finish penalty clause (although in all the years i have used them they have never been over their quoted time), just pure professionalisim which makes me happy.
I have had some jokers come out and simply pace out an area for the pool, couple of weeks later you get a single page e mail with the grossly overpriced price, no explanations, no terms & conditions, nothing just a price, then some idiot in their office calls you and asks why you have not used them for your pool construction - pathetic!!
I have no association with Home & Pool other than being a happy customer, i am just very happy to recommend them to anyone, and give praise where praise is worthy!

that's how it should be done! unfortunately you can't expect that from the average Thai contractor who does not employ a Farang or has a Farang business associate.

Hi
About 4 or 5 months ago, I wrote to this forum...asking exactly the same question as the OP.
I contacted 3 of the companies mentioned by satisfied TV ers.
Because I have a 5 year old daughter and I did not want her to drown...I wanted about 1.2 metre depth.
There is very little space in my garden, and I could not build larger than 4X4.5 metres...by 1.2 deep.
Yes, I know it's weird....but I had little alternative.
I contacted 4 pool guys mentioned as having done a satisfactory job...by the guys on this forum.
Three quoted around 200,000 to 225,000.
One,a well known company on Third Road and mentioned in this thread, quoted 400,000.
I was impressed with the three whose price was reasonable.
I made no attempt to bargain the price down....I was more interested in not having ongoing problems, rather than getting a few bob off.
I chose Khun Bee, again recommended in this thread.
He did all he promised to do, and as it turned out, HIS price included an automatic chlorinator, costing around 30,000 baht.
My mate--a retired professional engineer-- kept a close eye on what was happing during construction...he was MOST impressed with K Bee's attitude, and integrity.
As indeed was I.
The pool was finished on time, and on budget--as they say on TV.
Bee was most accommodating when I had a query, or suggestion.
When he was finished the pool....I asked him who he could suggest to do an additon to my house.
HIS guys did that as well.
As another contributor said...he is a "Jack of all trades"
The standard of his workmanship exceeded my expectations.
He has worked with farang for many years...and he knows what a queer bunch we are.
The pool is finished...and no problems at all.
The additions are finished...and no problems at all.
I can certainly recommed Bee.
If anyone fancies a trip to Soi Khaotalo...drop around and cast an eye on my Olympic size pool.
Drop me a PM...and we're on.
Bee's number...is 0805964285

I am looking for advice on a decent contractor to come and build me a Pool in Sangkha, 60 km east of Surin.
Pool will be SW Chlorinated system, 8m x 9m with a 3m x 3m extra Jacuzzi section at one end, so basically L-Shaped and total 81 sq m.
Jacuzzi section used as steps into the pool.
Depth 1m in Jacuzzi side sloping to 1.6m at other side, also 20-30cm above ground to keep out the rubbish.
No bottom drains, simple one sided overflow design, with returns 0.5m below water level only.
One 2Hp Circulating/Filter pump and One High Pressure Jacuzzi Pump.
Underwater LED lighting, six units total.
There are no access issues or other ground problems to my knowledge.
I have just had a quote of ' UNBELIEVABLE' Thb per sq m to build the Pool only, no pumps, electrics or any above ground drain work at all.
Cheers, MH

I have just posted this in answer to another question :
The best pool chap in Pattaya is a Thai called Khun Bee (can speak English) 081 781 2719
I would highly recommend Khun Bee on his great job doing my pool renovation. Thanks for giving his phone number. I just bought a house and need to change the tile which was black (I hate that colour) to the nice blue ocean colour. I am very happy with him, and he charge me with a very reasonable price. He did other job for me also such as built a fence, awning and electricy repairs. Jack of all trades!.
The job he done was OK. But after a few months, pvc pipe pump burst because water pressure and he unable to fix it . I have to call another company. very dissapointed.

Most here don't use pipe cleaner so this is all too common as they don't clean off the silicon separator used in the pipe manufacture and that blocks good adhesion when connecting joints. Also it doesn't surprise me that he didn't have the skills to repair it either, it's a special skill set to locate and repair such a fracture that the average installer doesn't have..

I have repaired dozens of pools of substandard quality in Pattaya.
One recently at Residence 2 on the hill. They are extremely happy with the job.
Re-grout, re-pipe, new sand wash some extra tiles, new filtration and converted to salt chlorination.
It was a mess after only 5 yrs old. Large pool company owned by farang built it.
The Thai's quote low to get the job. But you get less steel and smooth not reo. 8.8 pvc not 13.5.
Chinese equipment that will need replacing with a year.
You get what you pay for!!!
