NEVER USE TAT; IT'S A SCAM!!!!! I used them and it cost me triple the hotel rate. Just because it's got a fancy name doesn't mean it doesn't revert to the traditional ThaiLie.

First time, I learned many lessons of what NOT to do in LOS.

Forget TAT. It is yet another worthless government setup.

I was scammed by a Thai travel agent out of 28,500 THB, (paid money for airflight, sorry our agent took your money - good bye) plus 11,000 expenses to meet this guy, who never showed up, so contacted TAT.

I assumed since the business is licensed with TAT, I would try contacting them.

Email results; never answered, phone in to TAT Criminal Division No Answer.

In person meeting with TAT; "oh he can't do that, but sorry nothing we can do"!

Gee like check on it since he is licensed by you - Dah.

Thai Police (nothing we can do), Thai Tourist Police (nothing we can do).
Both admitted they had many problems with the company.

Did I see a lawyer, yep. Cost double the loss, and you must be in Thailand at all times to reply to any inquiry which could take months to years!

Oh yes the Name; Joy Travel (and 10 other names) .

Hi Everyone.

I am very new to this forum infact I am here today looking for any related stories and seeking advice on what has happened here in Bangkok.
I was hard sold a very expensive trip that promised the earth and delivered mud, I am so dissapointed, 2 hotels and 2 building sites later i calculated my round trip to cost 59450B and was charged 88250B for my trip, thats some Commission tip... 570GBP thats like 50'/. commission. Our transfers didnt show, we were situated in rooms directly next to building sites. I am so upset is there anything i can do to recover some of this commission?
The last leg of our trip had us return to the hotel where the tour operator was located. I said i no longer trusted the hotel and would like to cancel the two days spent there and would like the transfer money back and hotel fee. They wired 6600B to the hotel in PHI PHI to quiet me. i am not satisfied, as they have only given me back something which i am not using anyway. Not my overcharges.

There charges range from
10000B for flights which were 6000
29000 for hotel charges I find out cost 17000
just for example you see.

I also get the feeling they are in cahoots with the hotels they put me intouch with as each of the flyers they showed me for PHI PHI the banyah the PP something and anotherone All seem to be part of the same company, definatley a monopoly in PHI PHI.

Urrrrrrrrgh im so upset can anyone advise or help?

Many thanks for your time xxx

Document your story on the bangkokscams website.
The TAT and Tourist Police won't help.

I recently reported a problem to one of the TAT informations booths. Waste of time.
They could not care less about tourists.

Hi,

On Sunday you guys helped me find my 14yr son, Evan, when I lost him
in the Sunday Markets. Thanks very much for that. I just wanted send a
message in support of the work you do. It was very reassuring to
understand that some help was at hand.

The Tourist Police left me with a very good first impression of the
Thai Police force and the Thai people. With your help I understood
what happened to my son and how he was helped by first a taxi driver
and his family then by the Police officers at Chiang Mai police
station.

Now we both have a mobile phone and carry directions back to our
accommodation in case we should get lost.

Thank you

Cheers

How about the new TAT sponsored travel contest? www.ultimatethailandexplorers.com

This TAT web link www.ultimatethailandexplorers.com is an opportunity for travelers to win free trips to Thailand and effectively "get paid" (you are given 30,000 baht spending cash) to explore all the attractions and do all the activities in the five most popular tourist destinations in Thailand.

I think people who come to the Tourism Authority of Thailand Web Links page should know about this TAT sponsored event!
