Natural Disaster Warning Director experiences car accident

Director of the Natural Disaster Warning Center Smith Thammasarot (สมิทธิ ธรรมสโรช) experienced a car accident in Kraburi (กระบุรี) District of Ranong province. Mr. Smith’s 4 door pickup truck turned over while traveling on a slick road while heading to Ranong from Phuket province.

Mr. Smith’s vehicle was traveling on Petchkasem (เพชรเกษม) road in Ranong province heading back from Phuket with moderate rains soaking the road. Mr. Smith’s driver reportedly lost control of the pickup truck during a wide turn and flipped off of the road. Mr. Smith received a cut to his right eyebrow, injuries to his head and scratches along his neck. He has been sent to Thonburi hospital in Chumporn province where doctors conducted X-Rays on his injuries.

Medical officials report that Mr. Smith is free further injuries. He is conscious and can speak to medical staff.

Dr Smith transferred to Siriraj Hospital for treatment of blood clot in brain

National Disaster Warning Center Director Smith Thammasarot has been moved by helicopter from Chumporn province hospital after doctors found a blood clot deep in his brain. Doctors say though his condition is not a cause for concern with Mr. Smith being fully concious, they would still like to monitor the blood clot and allow Mr. Smith to rest for the next two weeks. Medical personnel state that they will review the clots development before deciding whether or not to operate on it.

The center director will receive further treatment at Siriraj Hospital and is being accompanied by members of Chumporn's police as well as the provinces Governor.

Mr. Smith was injured while traveling on Petchkasem (เพชรเกษม) road in Ranong province heading back from Phuket lost control and flipped during a wide turn. Mr. Smith only received minor lacerations to his neck and head from initial checks.

Since car-accidents aren't natural disasters no-one had warned him about the dangers...

minor car accident of some minor government figure - the national news bureau doesn't have more important news?

He is the guy who desperately tried to reach the meteorological officials who were in their "seminar" that a tsunami might be heading for Thailand. Prior to that, according to his studies, he had been warning these officials that should a large earthquake hit off the coast of Indonesia that Thailand was vulnerable to a tsunami. I am happy to see he is OK.
