Does anybody have info on buying worms suitable for composting? I know there are several ppl, including a couple of farang, with worm farms, so I'm hoping I can buy some.

Grow your own and make your own worm farms !! It's easy and free ......just need the scraps from cooking, a little grass clippings, some chook shit, som ewater and newspapers to cover it ....or use a drum with no bottom or a hole covered with a sheet of roof iron......many ways ! After a while just turn it over and then again after another while.....then you'll get worms that can be used in portable compost farms such as foam boxes for urban dwellers.....if you need details look it up on the www...........

Not just any worms are suitable for breeding or composting, so if I start with the right type it will make life easier down the track. #4

Many stories on TV about being charged & never receiving the goods -----along with the problem of any recovery of monies spent. I would keep it local with someone here with a good track record & as far as i know, no one has ever complained of Redbicycle being a burn artist. I wish I could say the same from the 7 thieves. They wanted me to purchace 300 meters of chain link fence & pay up front ...to India I guess. not a chance. the materials were from China! #9

When I used Alibaba I only deal with local Thai vendors. I've either had them ship COD or I will go pick up and pay. I would never pay upfront especially from somewhere in India. Search for the product you seek only in "Thailand"

I have 4 compost heaps going, the 2 under a tamarind tree, one is ready to use, the other is only 2 weeks old and is full of worms, mainly wrigglers, Another thing you could try is what we used to do as kids in the UK, collect the rinse water from the washing machine, throw it over the lawn or garden at dusk, leave it for 30 mins, then go out with a torch and a bucket, all the worms would surface and were easy pickings for the next days fishing trip, fresh water and a bit of soil in the bucket will stop them loosing colour, Cheers,Lickey. #18

All three. I top dress with a wormcastings and bat guano tea. When making compost I use 20% castings, 10% guano, 5% Azomite, a bit of mycorhize and dolomite lime and the balance is coco with the salt washed out.

I think guano is collected all over SE Asia, wherever there are flying rats and people willing to clean up their poop. Even Lotus is selling it in their tiny garden departments. Good stuff and 100% organic too... #23

Composting worms won't live in soil, but I'm told there is a method of organic farming where a thick layer of mulch/coco peat is applied and the worms live in that. I presume manure and other organic matter is added, which is feed for the worms.
Anyone have details of this method? I now have a lot of worms and will run out of space. There's about 2" of coco inner husks and mulch spread around my vegie patch, so I'm keen to give this method a go. #24

I have african nightcrawler in my 2'x1' plastic tub. The tub 's filled with 6 inches coconut shell bedding (make a good drainage) and 3 inches chopped green vegies (free at nearby market). Water it often (2 times a day) and the compost will be removed out as worm tea. Feed them with 1-2 inches vegies every couple days. They turned 2 kg of green vegies into tea within a week. I do not know how many worms are there. But the tub may good for upto 200-400 worms. If you have lot of worms, you may need tons of food, vegies or "washed" manure. Coconut husk, paper, saw dust or other cellulosic material are good as bedding but not as food. Worms need balance N/P as well as plants.
