Does anybody use TOT phone co.? I can't seem to get U-Tube on my PC system. Whatever I try to play just comes up 'sorry, video no longer available...' It's definitely not my PC, everything else is working perfectly. It occurred to me that TOT might be blocking U-Tube for some reason. I'd appreciate some advice...

Same here - TOT is a joke imo.

CAT have the same issue sometimes. Today I searched for some old Tour de France footage and most of it returned that message.

I am a TOT user in Pattaya and have not been able to view any YouTube videos since late last year, but for some reason TOT was allowing YouTube videos to be viewed on Friday and again yesterday, but today they are again blocked. They must have had a problem in their blocking hardware/software, whatever they use to block YouTube, over the past two days. That, or they were just putting out a teaser for their current subscribers then rub it in our face by blocking it again. I'm on the waiting list for a TT&T phone line then I will be rid of TOT's sensorship.

TOT has admitted it is blocking youtube. TOT claims that they are government owned and must protect its citizens. Apparently, there is a malcontent out there who keeps posting lese majeste content and youtube can't block the malcontent, but only take down the video after it is identified. So, TOT is blocking youtube as a remedy.

Good news to TOT subscribers, YouTube ban has now been removed! :o

I checked only last saturday (July 26) and it was all working fine.

Dunno though if this applies to all ToT subs. I live in Nongprue, Chonburi.

Connection speed also "seems" to have improved a lot this weekend.

Hi... I wrote in here yesterday for help because I figured out that TOT were blocking YouTube, which is important to me because I am a musician and have several mates on there. Today I went to AT&T to get my service changed and was told 'sorry, cannot. No have cable in your soi' So, I went to CAT quite prepared to pay 2,600 baht; anything to get away from TOT! Once again I was told 'cannot do'. At this point I resolved to sell my house at the first opportunity and went home depressed. I was checking my emails and I thought I'll give YouTube one more try and cor' bugger me, it worked! I have just been reading all these conflicting reports on Thai Visa and I can say for definite that YouTube is working on TOT.

Ditto. Works in Isaan finally. Just when I started doing serious research to replace TOT with something less restrictive.

I use YouTube extensively for class illustrations in my university classes (journalism, marketing, etc.), and the TOT ban has been quite a hindrance. I'm not holding my breath, however, that it'll remain. Been up and down that roller coaster too many times.

It was blocked a while ago because someone made a video that was offensive.

I can access it now though, from Thailand... There is no youtube.co.th though. Don't know if there was.

Youtube is not working very well for me right now. I have to refresh some videos several times before they will play instead of getting the 'sorry this video is no longer available' error.

I no longer get the "Sorry this video is no longer available" message and can even watch in in daytime now! Service still sucks.

Mine - on TOT in CM - just started to work again, and my volume is fine. I don't know how helpful that is, but it'll help you build up a picture...

I don't know if this helps but maybe there is something in what I post.

My computer #1 is a work computer and I use the wireless connection from True ADSL in Bangkok. I can access Youtube fine. Its an old Dell D610 Latitude. WIndows XP with older IE

I bought computer #2 new Acer Aspire 6935G and could not get it onto wireless so I plugged the line into the modem and that's what I am using. WIndows Vista Ultimate with IE 7.

Initially no problem with #2. It was much faster. Then I could not access Youtube videos directly. I had to back track and try again. I was getting error messages about not getting a page to display. Lots of extra work and frustrating. I switched to Firefox browser and things were better but it only took 40 minutes for the "connection interruption" error message to start surfacing. Firefox is more friendly on the retry. Just one click.

I find that both systems require a second click so while waiting for the first click, I'd hit the second click and got video faster.

I tried the Advanced SystemCare optimizer and it seems to have helped speed. I'll know if it cleared up the double click requirement.

I was curious is bandwith was the issue and if the ISP was identifying my computer and putting restrictions on it.

The older IE appears to not have the double click requiirement. I don't know if by being wireless or hooked up by a line- is that part of the issue as well?

Maybe this has been answered before, and although I did a search I only found irrelevant threads so I'll post my own.
I can not open youtube.com.
Is this site blocked in Thailand?

It's working fine here, with TT&T Maxnet.

Not to beat a dead horse, but does anyone else think that ToT is governing youtube bandwidth? Even when all other sites are working fine, youtube is moving at a crawl. It literally can take 20 minutes to download a 4 minute video. I supposedly have 3mbps bandwidth. With such bandwidth, I shouldn't even have to pause and let it load. I'm sick of this crap!

I have the same problem. I have the 3mbps monthly plan from TOT and almost all streaming video comes in at a crawl. Any ideas on how I can speed up video streaming?

Google defeats Viacom in landmark copyright case

June 23, 2010 1:33 PM PDT

Google CEO Eric Schmidt's side prevailed over Philippe Dauman's Viacom in this important copyright case.

U.S. District Judge Louis Stanton, overseeing the longtime copyright fight between Viacom and Google over YouTube, on Wednesday granted summary judgment for the search company.

"The court has decided that YouTube is protected by the safe harbor of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) against claims of copyright infringement," Google said on its site.

"The decision follows established judicial consensus," Google continued, "that online services like YouTube are protected when they work cooperatively with copyright holders to help them manage their rights online."
