Mitsubishi L200 Strada 2.8 4x4

I have a Mitsubishi L200 Strada pickup 4x4 with the diesel 2.8 4m40 engine, Last year I had an overheating problem that was tracked to a cracked cylinder head, At that time I thought it strange that there was so many cylinder heads for sale for the 2.8 4m40 engine on the internet, now a year later Im finding out, I think the replacement head is cracked again :o

Has anybody had problems with this engine ?

Well, 22 views and not one person moaning about his cracked head on his Strada pickup ? I hope it means your all happily driving round without any problems :o

Since writing the first thread I have been told by a Thai mechanic friend that there is another possibility and that is that my water cooled turbo is leaking on the seal and water is getting into the engine through the inlet manifold ?

Has anybody ever had a leaking turbo ?

Well we're now up to 91 views and still no engine problems from you Grandis/Strada drivers, I would have thought world wide there would have been a few engine problems, well done Mitsubishi :o

Thought i'd reply even though i don't have a Grandis/Strada didn't want you feeling lonely and neglected. Youv'e obviously got a one off, but on the bright side that S/H engine you need to purchase to replace the steamer under your bonnet should be bombproof.

Well we're now up to 91 views and still no engine problems from you Grandis/Strada drivers, I would have thought world wide there would have been a few engine problems, well done Mitsubishi :o

A friend of mine has an OLD Mitsubishi Jeep with a Turbo diesel engine. He had a lot of head gasket problems but no cracked head. I have no idea what year or size the engine is.

A friend of mine has an OLD Mitsubishi Jeep with a Turbo diesel engine. He had a lot of head gasket problems but no cracked head. I have no idea what year or size the engine is.

In 16 years of living in Thailand, I have owned 4 Mitsubishis with this 2.8 diesel engine......two basic Stradas with the 2.8 engine, a 4X4 Strada with the 2.8 engine and then a G-Wagon with yet again the same engine. None of them has ever given me any trouble, no engine problems, no electrical problems or whatever.

My brother-in law has owned 2 similar powered Mitsubishi Strada pickups; indeed his current car has covered 440,000 kilometres without a mumur. My friend has a beat-up old L200 Strada which has been to Mars and back without a hitch. I can't begin to think what has happened to yours.

I have worked with Mitsubishi Stradas since they first came out.

If you have cooling problems for some reason you need to buy an aftermarket larger aluminium radiator and your over heating problems will go in a flash!

did you see them put a proper head gasket in when they put the head back on. i've got a cbr250 bike and the muppet who rebuilt it made his own gasket which failed pretty quick then when it went back in he decided that the original honda gasket i got for him was no good so he made his own out of ally plate.

this is a true story. <deleted>

I bought a strada in 2000, I had several problems with it. Now done 284,000 km.

# Engine cooling fan, it cracks and beats the shit out off the radiator, 4 times already. Changed to electrical fan, now fine.

# Gearbox, 4x4 and main box needed to be replaced with a second hand unit.

# Clutch, slave cylinder changed 5 times.

# Steering, servo pump and sealers changed 1 time.

# Changed all pivots and p-joints 8 times for the front suspension.

# Bed hatch, changed the useless plastic opening handel, 6 times.

# Generator, changed 1 time

Never any problems with the engine.
