I just received 20 rhode Island red crosses [Thai factory chickens] 18 weeks old and healthy and ready to lay. and I have them couped up in a sanitary 3x3 enclosure, but let them free range near dusk and so far, they stay close to home. My enclosure and chickens have little if no contact with the outside world and stray birds. In a normal time, I wouldn't worry about their exposure to the dreaded bird flu and am prepared to exclude their afternoon outings, if there is an outbreak.
