A couple of years I have seen the hotel list pinned - is it not high time to have a list of bungalow sites???!? Hotels are fine for short-time visitors, for all of us others who want to stay for a couple of months, who have done so before and want to find some better place the next time......
Last winter I was in Lamai for 3 months, in the same 8000Baht/month room as I have had a few times before. My health is deteriorating, walking with a crutch with not a lot of balance, I would love to have a bungalow that is accessible without motorbike, cooking facilities for my Thai wife, reasonable price as we still live on my retirement money. I had a web site for bungalows on Samui years back, two computers back, should be some good ones with all the bungalows I hear of - from Swedish friends when I was in Lamai, who drive motor bikes. I do enjoy Samui a lot - the mix of East with Western facilities! I obviously do not want to predict how it will be in 25 years, but then I am gone anyway so....... #2Posted 2008-10-01 18:38:14
not a bad idea, as there are always many posts where TV members are looking for cheap long term accommodation under 12K a month....
but up to the mods #3Posted 2008-10-01 21:38:37
not so much a dollar maker... as the 12 k a month places give 600 THB commission a month
but for information, very good, as you will notice no agents onrbooking service companies promote this tx #4Posted 2008-10-01 21:41:40
Pinned
SO start adding then..... #5Posted 2008-10-02 08:18:33
Maybe two years ago I got the URL of a website with rather many bungalows on Samui, but have lost it, including the computer I had those mails in. Obviously one gets lots of hits searching for Samui bungalow - but every hit tells the places are perfect...... That time, I am retired with limited budget, I wrote to some of those that seemed most attractive in that list - every single one was booked for the coming year.........
One would like to see such lists, but also people with more personal recommendations. So many people retire to Samui so details like accessibility for people who cannot use motor bike, and are not good walkers, is very much appreciated! My Thai wife is now applying for permanent residence permit in Sweden after almost 2 year here, and after that we plan to go. #6Posted 2008-10-02 18:50:11
Every house I had on samui for long term (1+ year) contracts were found by driving around & looking out for "for rent" signs or from friends telling me about houses near their own that were coming up for rent.
I do suppose it depends on your budget but as were were looking in the 10K less per month catagory I was loath to use any kind of agency & have the rent inflated to cover their costs. #7Posted 2008-10-03 04:39:29
I think there is a need for both - at that time I actually got in touch with a German guy at an agency, who sounded friendly enough, we exchanged a few mails - but then I could not go down that winter because of an insane guy in our sick insurance office sigh. I had medical certificate that I needed to go down, he thought he knew better than the doctor.
I got a driving license but have not driven for 10 years, my Thai wife has a Thai one but has maily driven motorbike there. Ah well, let's see. I go on dreaming though - with 10°C and steady rain outside. #8Posted 2008-10-15 16:29:13
Pinned SO start adding then..... Lets make a few quick rules, please be sure to give details, and if it does end up being rented contact a mod to have it deleted. Hi All,
Needing a 2 bed in Lamai please. I know it will be a case of jumping on the scooter again searching the sois but if anyone knows of anything beforehand that would be great. Currently paying 6,000 THB/month excl. utilities so similar would be nice. Deep well water would be soooo appreciated as this is the only reason for house hunting as showering before and after work with a bucket and a sponge is getting tiresome now!! Thanks if anyone knows anywhere before the search starts. #16Posted 2010-06-27 01:41:46

2 bedroom rental koh phangan. #22Posted 2010-10-29 08:05:53
I started this thread so..... Now I have stayed a couple of winters in Lamai, with mixed problems with my rotten legs and feet, walking with a crutch. Stayed in rooms 5-8000B/m. The last one had perfect friendly service but too far from the center for comfortable walking.
I have not circulated much on the island, heard much about Fisherman's Village. Are there any nice cheap places to stay? Internet and fridge necessary, and easy access with a guy with bad balance. If feet are allright, I will come down again coming summer for a few months. I prefer winter for my feet, as I cannot walk in the Swedish winter weather, but my Thai wife can only go in summer as she studies at the uni here. #23Posted 2010-11-01 02:12:33
