I have stayed on Koh phangan for a few weeks before and from what I could see most places were 400-1000baht a day....
I have heard of people on Koh Samui and everywhere else for that matter get monthly deals...such as 5000baht or lower. any suggestions? #127Posted 2012-04-30 08:19:29

Hi,
We are planning to move for up to a year to Samui and would like to rent a house. Everything I see online is geared to holiday rentals and I am not seeing much for longterm. I know it is best to be on the Island do find things, but I am curious mostly regarding prices. I have seen a large array of prices online, and am trying to plan our budget. We do not ned to be in the busy areas- Chaweng/Lamai. If you have any leads on house owners/landlords/agents- that would be great too just to get our feet wet and begin some searching. Thanks! #129Posted 2012-04-30 17:45:11
There are plenty of long term options available but most aren't advertised anywhere. It's much easier to wait until you get here to go house hunting.
Prices for long term start at around 10,000 baht per month for a 2 bedroom place, the further you are from Chaweng the cheaper it is. Edited by ydraw, 2012-04-30 17:46:12. #130Posted 2012-04-30 17:48:50

PM sent with some details. The best thing to do though is to arrive, check into somewhere for a week and then drive around. Find the area that you like first - then focus on properties in that area.
Driving around you will see lots of small signs reading "house to rent". Also lots of small private developments. Long term places tend not to be advertised so much. (Owners do not like to pay commission on 12 month's rent perhaps You will obviously pay more for certain criteria. Number of bedrooms, sea views, security. private pool etc. #132Posted 2012-04-30 19:47:16
Thanks all! We were thinking of being in the Southern part- near Laem Set. At the high end of our range is $25,000 BHT per month... Not needing to be on the beach, but nice views would be a plus.

You can get a basic place (three rooms including kitchen with some furniture, for as low as 3500 baht a month plus electric ... AC unit from 4500 baht a month plus electric. ....
Thai style row houses, I know a number of people who use these. (Farangs on low budget) ... Minimum one month. otherwise 300 baht a night and up. #134Posted 2012-05-05 13:42:09
