Windows 7 is growing on me. I had two programs that wouldn't work but one now has a Beta for Windows 7 and it seems to work fine. I downloaded a newer version of the other program and it has updated and is also working fine. The original disk wouldn't work for some reason. No other complaints right now.

There is no stoppen you now GARY A. :D

Forgot to add FILE HIPPO have a nice little beta that works with WIN 7 link

update checker which will notify you of new programs updates available for your computer. :)

You can now upgrade from RC to RTM and keep your existing files and data :)

I have a working RTM activator if anyone wants it.  I can happily email it :D

Let me know.

Is there anywhere still offering the latest beta download? I've already looked on the MS Windows 7 site and it's been taken down :)

The RC was taken down but can still be used and a serial number obtained if required.  I expect it is available on some torrents but you would need to be very careful it had not been doctored - better to borrow a CD from someone who downloaded directly from Microsoft.

Thanks for your response, I got a copy of build 7068 from an aquaintance which works fine so I'm not desperate, just keen to try the new version :)

You can get the RTM version (7600 - finished) really easy now.

Fully activated as well. :)

Curious to know.

I will buy a notebook in few months when window7 is release.

I have a lot of old and new window XP programs

To keep simple, will be better if I buy my new notebook with window 7 professional (include XP window on the professional)

OR

Home premium and I will load window separately.

I have an old version of MYOB and it is not compatible with vista

Cheers

"XP Mode" for Win7 will not work on Home edition... It is for Profesional and up only.

Yes , same problem with MC 727..... :)     I can't believe it.... back to XP on the Laptop....
The IT guy who set it up is trying to find a solution...
we tried various forums, it seems it's a problem generally....

But it's not just in Thailand, with CAT, my nephew in Canada having issues with 7 on a major internet service there!

After some research looking for driver updates, I find that the CDMA MC 727 is a product of Novatel Wireless based out of Calgary Canada...

So as fair as I see it, it is Novatel that should be providing the W7 Upgrade driver to their providers.... i.e CATCDMA... here in Thailand. :)  So much for the "first world" techs.... I guess they are too bust rounding up cattle... in "Cow town".... AKA Calgary.

I sent them an email asking if when there would be W7 drivers available....  everyone should do the same... What a pain in the you know where, I don't want to have to buy a new connection, the MC 727 has been very good... what's worse too is I paid up until January for the service, not to mention only having purchased the 727 in January!  :D

It's going to a pain too to use the laptop with XP! I hate typing on the laptop!

I went to CAT CDMA shop today, the staff there said it should be "Plug & Play.... with the MC 727 .

Well tried that still nothing with the computer with W7...  :)

Has anyone managed to sort this yet? It's Extremely frustrating.... I've searched many sites, but to no avail.... to finding an update driver

I did manage to set up on my Mac with Snow Leopard.... now no problems with that, it's fine. :D

The CAT tech is coming in the morning, it's going to be interesting to see if he can set up with W7....

MC 727 & W 7 Update. Still not directly working. :D

I had two guys here from CAT this morning for two hours trying to sort this... to no avail, other than linking through my laptop... meaning having to have that going all the time, while doing any thing on the "net"... on the main PC.

They suggested I get a ADSL line put in, ... at 3000 baht a month ... I don't think so... :D for what I do the MC727 has been very good.... and can take it any where... if traveling in Thailand, anyway.

So far other than that, W7 seems ok. Some new learning curves... but that keeps the mind active, I suppose! :)

Maybe you could trade someone for a CCU 680. I have Windows 7 Pro and that CAT EVDO modem works fine.

I use the MC727 and was considering installing Windows 7. I've done a search of Novatel's site, but can find nothing relevant.
Thanks for the info, as i will not install a new OS if I will be unable to use my modem - crazy, Hope something is sorted soon

Want to trade Gary???  :D

Oh! I've spent hours searching... Including Novatel (sent them another email too)  Various sites advertising Driver updates, tried CNET etc etc...

I even downloaded the Sprint version installer,  of the same model, interestingly it connected & I could see the signal... but then said "application error" or something like that... so that was that... :) I am not computer savvy enough to figure out, if I could have over come that or not...

In the mean time I am connected via my laptop... I wish Novatel would place something on their web site giving some indication, as has HP who say it will be the end of this month before they have a driver for my printer... At least it helps to know....

Encouraging  News Re CAT CDMA's Novatel MC727 Modem & Windows 7.

This is a message I just received from Novatel's, Developers Lounge Website.

"Thanks for your detailed explanation. I think Novatel knows where the problem is. If novatel has a solution, I will find the solution for you in a day or so."

If & when it's posted I'll post the info here. ( I hope it's not too much of an "IF").

I'm really surprised that the CAT people can't remedy this problem. If the CCU680 works, why can't they get the MC727 working. I feel your pain. I would be VERY upset.

As a matter fact the Windows 7 connects more smoothly than Windows XP did. I set mine to connect automatically when the computer starts. I used to have to manually connect sometimes with XP when the automatic connect failed.

Gary,

That's what the Novatel Forum guy suggested too, just try "plug & play"...  (uninstall the CAT software etc first)  been there, tried that! error message 651...  that seemed to be useful info for them. so why they maybe able to come up with a solution....

Surely a job of the manufacturer to come up with the correct driver?, it surprises me if it works in one system as it does with yours, it should work on 727 too? I am not tech savvy enough to know!

Once they do, I'll certainly let the local CAT office know & hope they will past on the info to their other offices... & save others the grief! :)

I had a look at the CAT web site and see that they offer a set of drivers for Vista. It may be worth trying that set of drivers. Here's the link;

Been there.....  tried that.... Worked fine on Vista!  As the guy from Novatel's Forum said, they think the have found the glitch and are working on it...  in the mean time we have to wait.... and wait!  :D
With my fiddling, I have now lost the network between laptop XP & PC W7!  :D

When this gets sorted, what  I really want to do is Network the W7 & Snow Leopard to transfer pictures (which is the main reason I use the Mac. But have images on both computers.... thousands!!! ) My 'rainy season" project is to sort through 10 years of images! :)

Has anyone had any success at connecting the two? (using Dlink fixed wire).
I can see the Mac connection on PC but that's it.... I cannot see the PC link on the Mac! The local Mac guy with limited experience says it cannot be done????

Have you tried to change the compatibility mode?. After you unzip the files, right click the .exe file, click "Properties" then the "Compatibility" tab, check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box, Select "windows Vista" and then click "OK". It's worked for me for a stubborn Asus driver.

Thank you for the suggestion, Prism!

We ( a Tech & I)  tried that last night but without success!

Reading some of the comments on the above site page, others not having much luck either, not necessarily just with the MC727 modem ...

Still nothing from Novatel.... yet!  :D
