HI
Plenty of gammon steak in Tops
LOS.... They have English kippers as well, did not see them but was told by a friend today

We found the ham steaks the other day.  They're a bit on the small side and hidden away in the cooked/processed meats section.  I guess I wasn't thinking of them being processed meats but I suppose they are :o

Should be fresh meat ,like ham off the bone, which can be had at Carrefour and is delicious.

I love crumpets from the UK but in Australia not so good,i like them grilled till burnt nearly then some lurpak butter sensational.
Yes, they have to be nearly black and soaked in butter and honey, or with butter and a fried egg on top. Posted Image

The best way to make crumpets black is to lather them with Marmite or Vegemite, then ya have crumpets from heaven.

If they do it just like Bkk we'll be just fine....its  better then all others IMHO after 22 years here 17 in Pkt.....but as an old timer ,some may call me, I still drop in to Sin&Lee to buy at the original farang store in Pkt.as a way to say thanks for those early days.....Villa's owner once ran the US EMBASSY Commissary in Bkk.....BB

Well, to come to the original question, I would like to be able to find Jordan's cereales and real french or German hot, (not spicy) mustard like Loewensenf or french extra forte.

A crumpet should be toasted both sides in front of a blazing log fire and then soaked in butter and eaten dripping down one's chin.
This is correct.  Like this:

Therefore not likely to be found or enjoyed properly in the tropics
OR
a crumpet is a little piece of skirt
Which, as we all know, is much more likely to be found, and indeed, enjoyed properly, in the tropics.
You must provide your own photographs to illustrate the latter definition.

Does frozen gammon steaks sound correct? :D  Usually salted/cured aren't they?  Anyhow, found a nice big gammon joint in Makro, just cooked it and it is Superb.  Now what to do with all that gammon stock - I'll move on to the foodie sub-forum :o

Villa Market In Phuket, What do you expect?

Marmite and Branston Pickle!
And crumpets!

I know, zero chance of that. :o

Villa has a great range of Western delights, including Marmite, Vegemite, Bakery and Australian and New Zealand Meats. (Not sure bout the 'Crumpets'.) :D

Does anyone have a recipe?

Forgive my ignorance, but can you please tell me what is all the excitement about Villa anyway?
I have visited them in Hua Hin (maybe a different experience thank bkk, don't know) and find them ridiculously expensive with nothing special on offer. Veggies more expensive then in Europe, give me a break, do I really need imported American potato for 150-200thb/kg?! (price of a chicken breast in lotus) And what about a THAI beef steak for 800/kg? Wines? Under a 800-1000/bottle nothing acceptable, Wine Connection and one other shop in Hua Hin had MUCH better prices and choice (3l casks of nice white for 600-800, yeah! :o , 400 for a decent bottle).
Now I'm in Phuket and just bought a 2kg tenderloin from Choice Foods, they go mainly wholesale, but as I LOVE beef I don't mind buying more...Whole piece goes for 1600, so 800/kg - same as Villa, BUT it's imported AUSTRALIAN and FRESH, NOT FROZEN! Just made steaks today and the rest is being marinated for a fine goulash :D I couldn't resist and ate some today, really soft real Australian beef, not as tasty as it will be in 2 days, but still so good! (so fresh it has to rest for some time to get to perfect, you know what I mean :D ) For the same price as Villa selling Thai beef bull-SHIT :D ...
So please explain - what is so special in this store? Not veggies, not wine, not meat...so what? Maybe I'm not an anglo-saxon and British cousin really doesn't make any impression on me (most of all is unedible for me to be honest), what are the things that make you pay for them more than in your home country?

Tahina, please. Dried Chipotle chilies - a larger selection of dried herbs and spices in general, would be nice. Better selection of various types of flour. Nuts NOT fried in palm oil - can't stand the sweet taste.

Yeh... I'll recognise you as the one wearing the funny hat and sunflower in lapel. Just kidding... :D

A further thought. Gerd, any free wine samples. That's the place to all meet about 10.30 Saturday...
