Strict changes in Immigration office areas/locations from February 15
BANGKOK: -- From February 15, 2009 all Thai Immigration offices has been strictly instructed that foreigners have to use the Immigration office that has administrative jurisdiction over the area where they live.
All visa changes, extensions, re-entry permits and other immigration requests are to be handled by the immigration offices in the districts in which the foreigners reside. Immigration offices at international airports can handle such issues only in emergencies ('illness' is given as an example).
<snip>
For example, Kanchanaburi handle immigration duties for all of the province except for Sangkhlaburi District (which are handled, it says, by a separate Sangkhlaburi immigration office). Kanchanburi also handles immigration duties for Ratchaburi and Suphanburi provinces.
I made one for Kanchanburi Immigration Office - Location.
Has anyone else, any other Google Maps of Immigration Offices to help our fellow Members?
If you wish me to make any for you please PM with the details and I will see what I can do.
Yours truly,
Kan Win

Looks to me like no one needs any help then, to find their local ' Immigration Office' to visa changes, extensions, re-entry permits.

Kan Win

I would be very interested in seeing a pinned item with them all shown. Believe someone had earlier made for Nong Khai.

Good initiative Kan Win. Nan-immigration is already on google maps, and I hope the others will follow soon. Would make it easier to find the different offices.

A good idea Lopburi3, we are already thinking about something like that. Maybe we can start with a pinned item showing the different locations on google maps.

I have given a lot of thought to this since the rule of having to use the local immigration office was implemented mid-February. Ideally, it would be a link on ThaiVisa’s entry page, as this probably allows standard HTML coding and thus could contain more elements – eg an interactive Google map for each office – rather than a forum post. George mentioned this idea, if I remember correctly.
Some problems I see:
1. The Romanised addresses given on the list of offices on the immigration web site (sorry, Mario, I lost the links you gave me) are not suitable for pinpointing an office on Google map.
2. The immigration website probably also has the list of addresses in Thai but for many offices this might again not be suitable for locating an office on Google maps.
These problems can of course be resolved with the help of members who know the exact location of an office and help pinpoint it on Google maps. I have solicited and received this help already for the offices in Nan and Hua Hin.
Some immigration offices are already on the map because they were geo-coded by a map provider such as TeleAtlas but some of these locations are outdated, like for example Nan, and Hua Hin is now outdated since yesterday.
It will be a time-consuming process but a start should be made. If we get anywhere with it, George can then later still make it a web page linked on ThaiVisa’s entry page.
My idea is to have a table with several columns:
- office name
- service area
- Google map
- mailing address in Thai
- mailing address in Latin script
- phone and fax numbers
- photo of the building, where available
I suggest that for a start we use this topic that Kan Win kindly started to collect as much information as possible for each office and when we got a dozen or so collate them in a pinned topic.
Yesterday, I tried to create a collection of placemarks on Google maps just like Kan Win’s Kanchanaburi collection, but using it exclusively for Thai immigration offices, but I ran into a dead end. Kan Win, I’ll PM you to consult with you how to do it. Perhaps we can be several people working together to enter the data.

Will be happy to put the map on the front page of the main site, or link it from there.
Good initiative!

With the kind help of Kan Win I am now able to group several placemarks under one title. Simple, really, except for my habit of looking at things in a complicated way.
This is where I am going to put all the placemarks based on location information in this topic for immigration offices in Thailand:

Thank you for Tha Li. Now added to the map:

I took the Postcode/ZIP from the immigration web site (which used a weird transliteration for the address) and added it.

We still need some more immigration offices and also need to check if the locations etc. are correct.
Pattaya and Korat seem to show wrong locations and ned to be moddified. If other members notice a wrong location please make a post here.
This is what you need to do:
1. On GoogleMaps, double-click on the exact spot. This will centre the map on that spot.
2. Top right of the map, click on “Link”
3. Copy the highlighted text under “Paste link in email or IM”
4. Paste that text into your reply in this thread.
Thanks.

New offices added to the ThaiVisa map up to Pattaya (post #18):
Question about Chiang Mai office:
The placemark is now in the middle in front of two buidings. Which of these two buildings is the immigration office?
Question about Pattaya office:
The placemark shows the office between sois Patthaya 7 and Patthaya 8, but the immigration website gives this English address:
75/264 Moo 12
Laebhadjomtein Road
Amphoe Bang Lamung
Changwat Chon Buri 20260
and this Thai address:
75/265 หมู่ (Mu 12) ถนนเลียบหาดจอมเทียน (Thanon Liaphat Chomthian) ซอย (Soi) 5
ต.หนองปรือ (Nong Prue)
อ.บางละมุง (Bang La Mung) จ.ชลบุรี (Chonburi) 20260

For Pattaya Immigration Office, placemark moved, address updated, and photo added. I may not have the placemark exactly on the right building in Soi 5 and would be grateful if somebody who knows the location would check it.
