Well, just to prolong the agony, my agent didn't pick the passport up today!!!!!!!!!!

He promises to do it tomorrow. I got to say, my agent has been great, let's hope this is the first and only let down.

Now just got to get drunk so I sleep for 18 hours and awake to the news. Just can't sit here thinking about it any more!

NOVEMBERS APPLICATIONS

Steverino's app. wife & child dox submitted 12 Nov

Hey guys...yes we are back as well. Our original application was refused in August and the Embassy convinced my GF to re-apply as this was quicker than appealing...of course I had to pay again :-( but boy 2 weeks! we waited nearly 12 for the refusal.
Good luck to you Fluidfusion I hope your quick decision is positive too.

Went and submitted today. Maeow says there was hardly anyone there this afternoon, only collections and a couple of applications. 1 Pai Tio and 1 Student. This was about 14.00 - 15.00 hrs today.

She also said the Visa Centre guy was very helpful and friendly and made her feel confident. As a result we're both sabai tonight, glad the document nightmere is over.

Now the wait and fingers crossed.

Aom and mines case is a little more complex, however, my god i'm getting anxious and im only 3 weeks into the wait! it's great that the waiting times are coming down, just pray that my agony isnt prolonged too much, Aom seems to thinks its still likely to be 3 months before a decision but im remaining hopeful, to give an insight i met her in uk and she had to go home, we have obviously told all to home office on the application and have been advised by my lawyer its 50/50 as to whether the visa is given, rising to 90% upon appeal but hey ho, we're prepared for this, its still really heartening to see so many success stories on here.

Basically a little question for those in the know, having proven we have been together well over 2 years now, and having a son and being married, I know what i'm told by my lawyer but in your guys experience, do this things hold much weight on application decisions for spousal visas? obivously i know being married means i can apply for a spousal visa lol, but im more erring on the side of having a son togeteher with a dual nationality and 2 passports. Any advice is welcome guys cheers

Hey Paul,

Sounds fine on the face of it......criteria are your income (to be able to support all in your household), Your History (proof of being together for about 2 years), your accommodation (Room for children each, you and your partner, plus one communial room, or sitting room). You need to furnish proof dated photos etc and joint name bills or bills for her at your address and such like. You're better off browsing the Home Office website...There's a lot of info on there, and on here of course. The guys to look out for on here are 7by7 and Sumrit, but everybody seems to have a liitle imput.

Good luck mate.

Steve

I totally agree, it's all about proving you can provide for your family. I'm self employed and that's where I went wrong on our first application. You really can't add too much info about your job/financial circumstances. This time I went out and got signed letters from all my customers confirming I work for them, got a letter from my accountant confirming my projected income, tax records, gave full details of current and forthcoming work, got letters from friends and family and gave bank statements for the last 3 years.

Fingers crossed it's enough and best of luck to you and your misses.

Wondered if anyone can offer us some guidance or has been in our situation themselves. I am planning on returning to the UK with my now wife, we married at the amphur just this week, and our 1.5 month old son. However I'm not sure how or what I should show to prove the ability to provide for the family. I have lived out of the UK in Thailand for 2 years now without 'officially' working in the UK at all, I was working in Bangkok for some of the period. I would be planning to take up employment again once we have returned but of course cannot do this until we are back there. My wife has never been to the UK before.

Any ideas or experience would be very welcome,

Martin

Got the visa!!!!!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Total of 8 months since we started this and I'm glad it's over. Best of luck to everyone who is waiting, at least the waiting times are coming back down to a rational level.

Off to get very drunk.. Strongbow here we go!

Our situation was very similar as we lived in Phuket together for 2 years. During that time I was classed as UK nonresident so no tax paid and I was technically a tourist in Thailand. Difference is that I am self employed but I failed to show enough evidence of that fact.

If you are currently unemployed, you should ideally get a job offer in writing that states your salary and start date. Either that or I guess you need to show significant savings in you bank to tie you over while you find a job.

Bottom line is, you need to show that you can provide complete finacial support and proper accomodation for your family.

We used an Agent this time round and am glad we did. You don't have to use an agent but I found their experience was worth every penny.

Many many congratulations fluid, what a feeling of elation you must be going through right now after all of the anxious months, its so great that good things DO happen!!! :D

I earn net over £2k per month so i would expect that to be in my favor in terms of financial support, i'm also the sole supporter of Aom and my boy in Thailand, hopefully this would cleary demonstrate that they wont be going any where near sponging off of the state!

So how does everyone get through these days of waiting? i just feel stressed and anxious, even though we've done totally all we can at this point its a waiting game, all i can say is thank god for my xbox, its not as much fun as playing with my son though :)

I earn about that too but failed to provide proper evidence of it first time round. A lesson learned!

As far as the wait goes, I think you'll find that you check the online tracking page in the morning, again at lunch time and at least once more before bed. You'll visit this forum maybe 3 times a day at least, if only for some good news from someone else, and you'll speak to your loved ones. That's if you are anything like me!

Martin

Hi Martin, I recently moved back to the UK after spending several years in Thailand, although I was lucky, I still had a UK income. Basically, to simplify things to start with, you'll need to show that you have a genuine relationship, that you have proof of adequate accommodation in the UK and that you have adequate funds/income to support your wife without recourse to public funds.

For accommodation you don't even have to own/rent your own home, you can return and live with relatives/friends but there must be enough room in the house with everybody having their own bedrooms.

For income this can be made up of either a salary, savings, or a combination of both. Some people have been able to show that they have a 'secure' job offer and this has been acceptable but generally if you don't have a job you must show you have sufficient savings. A promise that you'll get a job after you arrive in the UK is not enough. As for the amount of money you need per week/month, although there is no hard and fast figure, it's generally accepted that the minimum requirements for disposable income (after rent/mortgage etc.) are the same as you would get on income support. And it would be difficult to show you could manage on less.

Fluid, seems like we are EXACTLY alike then! am in constant touch with her, on the app site constantly and of course come and go from here, i notice on the tracking site it constantly says 'your application was sent to the embassy on the 22nd october' or words to that effect, so what did your says when that kind of statement changed?

On another note, i submitted 3 months worth of wage slips and had my boss show exactly the same amounts on them as goes in my bank account, i guess its about proving a regular income so can certainly prove that, Also as i recall i sent in my CV showing job experience and described in detail what i do for a living, I'm an insurance broker and so explained how my pay is structured and also the kind of qualifications i have, i dunno if this helps at all but, if you can show your a proffessional in your field maybe it can add a little gravity to your application.

Finally and I dont know if others have done this, but the consultant i used over here wrote an excellent letter to the embassy that went with my app, negating many grounds for refusal and refering to the particular sections in law, if this works then brill and I will happily recommend her services to ppl on here, she is based in sheffield.

Excellent news mate. I am well chuffed for you. Looks like you and the Mrs can actually have a white Christmas this year then.
