Unlimited GPRS/EDGE on iphone is available for 650baht per month. All you do is ask for the Blackberry service at 650baht per month which includes free gprs/edge. You don't need to have/use a blackberry for this. Top tip Is that from AIS? #27Posted 2009-10-06 09:45:36
I just bought one of these 12Call "Netsim" for 210 baht yesterday and so far has been great compared to dial-up I just found this info on it... http://www.12call.ai...mNetsim210.html All sounds OK except it's 1 baht a minute after the 30 hours is used up. In the Terms & Conditions it has:- In case of failure to deduct a monthly fee from the current balance, a new rate will be applied (1 baht/minute for GPRS and 3 baht/minute for the first minute of every call; 2 baht for each subsequent minute 24 hours) After topping up credit, customer can press *777*77# to resume the service at the same rate. The new billing cycle will be effective on the date which the call is made. I wonder if I can reset the billing cycle and get another 30 hours at 99 baht! Anyone know? Cheers YBB #28Posted 2009-10-06 14:22:24 Quote Is that from AIS? Yes but True also offer a Blackberry service with unlimited GPRS/EDGE - Price I don't know but imagine it will be competitive to AIS. #29Posted 2009-10-07 14:41:38
20 hours are plenty for me as long as I don't turn on push services, and leave email on manual checking. I use it a fair bit but haven't exceeded 20 hours yet.
If you turn on push, the phone actually is constantly connected, so it's using up your hours in real time. I tested this out, let push run for an hour, checked my GPRS minutes before and after - I had used up exactly 60 minutes. So push is basically an always-on connection which also explains why it's eating up your battery so fast. #30Posted 2009-10-07 16:27:37
I use Push 24/7 and a lot of general use of the phone including wifi on the 3gs getting about 27 hours on average.
I would class this as moderate-heavy use including all aspects of the phone. Push usage requires a data plan based on MB or unlimited data as opposed to a minute based plan. #31Posted 2009-10-11 08:56:33
^^^ yes, I just wasted 600 Baht on this... I ran out of my 20 hours without knowing, then got switched to 1B/minute, and unfortunately I had just loaded 600 baht on my phone. A few hours later... zero! Whoops. I even called AIS but the service rep was so charming that I didn't even try to complain. He even told me "You need a Blackberry from AIS for the Blackberry unlimited plan" "I don't have a Blackberry" "Well... you can still get the Blackberry unlimited plan"... hehehe
AIS has 50 hours for 200 Baht too, I might switch to that. I now like to turn on Push sometimes so I can stay online on Yahoo Messenger (great iPhone client BTW)... and push is eating the minutes like there's no tomorrow... #32Posted 2009-10-11 09:03:18
Hi
I had True before, just so bad, now i got AIS cost 1000 a month and dont need to think about if its on or not #33Posted 2009-10-11 09:44:50 Quote He even told me "You need a Blackberry from AIS for the Blackberry unlimited plan" "I don't have a Blackberry" "Well... you can still get the Blackberry unlimited plan"... hehehe So he would not sell you the blackberry unlimited plan? Just call them and say you have a blackberry thats what I did they activated it within minutes I called the serenade club line tho maybe that helped as platinum with them. #34Posted 2009-10-11 16:28:10

No, no, between the lines he basically told me I could get a Blackberry plan regardless... pretty much what you did, just say you have one. They are very happy to not check that HDRIDER, you may want to save 350 baht... just switch to the BB plan... True is nominally the best plan though, postpaid at 599/month unlimited internet plus some free minutes and stuff. #35Posted 2009-10-11 18:33:06

Hi,
I'm currently using 12call on my unlocked iPhone. Is there an unlimited data plan for that company, or do I need to switch to AIS or True? If I have to switch, can I keep the phone number I got with 12call? Thanks. #38Posted 2009-11-08 09:42:20

Hi AIS is 12call http://www.ais.co.th...dexHandset.html you can get the Black berry plan 650 can be used on any phone, read the tread here, if you are in Phuket i would not use True #39Posted 2009-11-08 12:26:23

I just thought there might be a difference since one is prepaid and one is postpaid. I just called AIS and apparently I have to use the prepaid service for 3 months, then I can switch to AIS/postpaid at that time. I've only had my phone number a couple of weeks (I'm a n00b expat), so will have to wait awhile to switch. But I will definitely go for the BB 650 plan at that time! Thanks for all your help! #40Posted 2009-11-08 13:59:06
Hi
Yes you need a contract with them, if you know a Thai put it in his/hers name and put your own name on where the bill has to be send, my phone is in my GFs name but i get the bill #41Posted 2010-01-18 10:02:06
better to buy in USA and figure out a way to unlock... or buy in Hong Kong ... or buy in Thailand?

better to buy in USA and figure out a way to unlock... or buy in Hong Kong ... or buy in Thailand? HK or Thailand are good. HK I think is a bit cheaper. Thailand is also factory unlocked though. You do _not_ want to deal with the hassle of jailbreaking every time you upgrade your iPhone software. |
