Drum and Bass sounds like a brick in a battered biscuit tin being rolled down a steep hill......

There is some.

I know a record shop that teaches D'n'B mixing. In Siam Square somewhere. Saw a couple of flyers there too.

When I go to Oz gonna bring my collection over. Only brought house and NRG last time.

Hopefully, lots of local made stuff too.

Use to run a D'n'B club in Adelaide.

My 2c worth. SOrry not much help.

Waiting for a particular bar here to get decks then I'll be playing there. Busy boy at moment but love the D'n'B scene. Well, the Adelaide one anyway.

There is good bar that always plays drum and bass down Rambuttri (the road down the side of the temple at the bottom of Khoa san) it is called Dong Dea Moon, go through the restaurant and upstairs. Nice little place with free pool, loud music and balcony where you can watch the mayhem on the street below. They also run DDM (differant venue) at weekends look out for flyers on KSR.

Hmmm... well a house DJ (I am guessing!) would say that wouldn't he  :D

The scene is well underground, but you can listen to the D and the B probably up to 2-3 nights a week.

Major places to reprzent
- Democ (near Khao San)
- Astra (RCA)
- Q Bar (hard to believe, but Nookie is playing there this Oct 29!) - not often
- some places around Tong lor from time to time
- other khao san rd places from time to time

Best thing is to get in tight with the two crews who are making the DnB scene here:

Homebass Communications: DJ Wen and DJ Dragon would be the founders of the scene here; both Thai and well versed in DnB they DJ well and Dragon could hold his own against most of the big names that have come out here (and well better than pikers like Michey Finn) - play the full gambit from the hospital records soft stuff to full on pressure RAM stuff

The guy in Siam Square whose name I cannot remember - he is the other one; DJ Paul I think maybe? is his name, also a good DJ and brings regional guys over; he brought over Makoto a while back this year (who was great). Name is ....recordings; man it is frustrating not to remember!

They both play regularly, but you need to get to know them to find out when .  The whole scene is tight, so you see the same people again and again; befriend a few and you'll find a ton of overseas udjakated Thais innit who are on the whole not full of s&*t like the people who go and listen to losers like Judge Jules.  Then you can enjoy whenever you want.

Of course, if you cannot wait, then 1xtra is the place to go online; I have driven my staff mad already with repeating DJ Flight's show like 5 times in the week :-)

At the moment hip hop is sadly strong, but it won't be long until we hear...Tarrrrantulllllaaa!!! at every club... maybe  :o

BTW I think Faith Club is now called Glow; it was never that good as a club; just somewhere cool to hang out with your essays while reprazentin on the pool table aiiiight.

the only person that brings Makoto here is us - no one here called Paul!

Nookie is this Friday 28th @ Astra for his main set of D&B, the an encore set - of classic house - at Q Bar on the 29th.

Our future events:

DJ Marky (Brasil) & Stamina MC @ Astra - Saturday 12th November

Makoto (Japan) & Deeizm MC (UK) // Tactile (Hungary) - Xmas Eve 24th December

The return of GOLDIE! New Years Eve Dec 31st

13th Jan - DJ FRESH (Producer of the year 2003/2004 - Bad Company)

Early Feb - J MAJIK (Infrared/Defected)

Sat 25th Feb - DJ CRAZE - 6 x World DMC Title Holder

all alongside our resident, THE SPECIALIST

that should be enough for now...

Specialist & Makoto - Elements of Dub 2005 is out now on Renegade Recordings

ASTRA sounded cool, will check out  :o

CAFE DE MOC is my fav D&B place, some time ur ears/eyes will gone surprised with guest dj A GUY CALLED GERALD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS.

can anyone explain me pls how differs between jungle n d&b ?
i think
they sound quite the same but jungle without any basslines and harder than d&b
my first d&b album was SPRING HEEL JACK.

oh also
i think
hiphop is dead in 21st century and replaced by d&b
drum n bass is the resurrection of hiphop by the whites.

jungle is more old school type beats, dnb is the future, no rules anything goes.

you haven't heard dnb till you've been to a uk party. (i'm an aussie, so its hard to to say that lol)

anyways looks like i'll be returning to bkk on the 12th for the Marky party. woot!

Sorry!!!  Couldn't recall what you guys are called...but anyway; that was an AWESOME night; well done :-)

THe scene of d and the B is definitely heating up in Thailand; great to see so many big names... on my wish list:
- live set from the EZ Rollerz including live vocal set from the Lady Roller
- Big Night with the power houses of DnB from the Antipodes: Pendulum, Concord Dawn
- Artificial Intelligence
- DJ Hype
- DJ SS

I am not so keen on the MC thing; but the Specialist is pretty awesome; that's the chick right?  Leave out the "yo yo yo handz in da air" guys - they...to be frank.... ruin the night for me and everyone I know.
