BANGKOK: -- The Public Health Ministry Friday announced that 71 more Type-A (H1N1) cases of influenza were recorded, raising to 589 the confirmed cases in Thailand.

Phaijit Warachit, deputy permanent secretary for Public Health, said 63 of the new cases are students who were already under close watch of doctors.

People need to be clear that the number of REPORTED case is the tip of the iceberg. The vast majority are never reported. Reporting is useful to health authorities because it indicates the regions and ways it is spreading. But do not believe for one second the actual number of infections is anywhere near that low a number.

Has there been an update today? I am not happy with the lack of information being put out about the flu.
