I use a garmin street something or other and got a link to a V9 map about thee weeks ago if any body is interested in it let me know if you want the file it works for me and the advantage over the V8 is the extra detail in the counrtyside i have not tried it in Bangkok as yet but certainly in Petch area there is a lot more detail and it still fits on the memory card that fits into the side of the Garmin unit

I downloaded it and all is good, and it's free. #8Posted 2009-07-03 10:25:41
I have Garmin SE Asia ver 3.0, how does Thailand ver 9 differ?
#9Posted 2009-07-03 10:39:48
I have Garmin SE Asia ver 3.0, how does Thailand ver 9 differ? I asked Garmin to check to see if the Kanchanaphisek bridge was on their latest map. Here is their answer; "Thank you for contacting Garmin International. If you have a 2008 or 2009 version, those would be up to date. The bridge may not be on there because it is a new location. Sometimes it may take a few years to get that information onto maps". Obviously I am not impressed that it takes SEVERAL years to add a major item such as a bridge and the highways connecting to it. #10Posted 2009-07-03 10:40:56
I have Garmin SE Asia ver 3.0, how does Thailand ver 9 differ? this map is specific to Thailand no other copuntry details are given and over V8 there is a lot more detail and some of the turn offs are now corrected like turning from #1 road to the ring road going South it tells you to turn on to the slip frontage road instead for tleaving it and telling you to turn Edited by mgc, 2009-07-03 10:44:18. #11Posted 2009-07-03 10:52:21
OK, thanks for that. I suppose that SE Asia V 3.0 is using Thailand V 8.0 data then. I guess what I could do is get Thailand V 9.0 and use that locally and then when I go to Malaysia pop the SE Asia card in for that trip.

A few posts on this thread show that people haven't read adjacent threads about the different maps. The Garmin SE Asia NT map uses TeleAtlas (MapPointAsia) maps not ESRI (so it isn't v.8). I concur that the rural road data is better on TeleAtlas than ESRI v.9, having recently compared the two on my NUVI. However, on my 2008 SE Asia NT map (don't have the version number to hand) I could find no bridge. Will double-check but the Nuvi 250 is clumsy when it comes to simulating routes. #15Posted 2009-07-05 19:51:02
Does anyone have the map ID number?

Does anyone have the map ID number? If you mean the TeleAtlas map it is as follows. On the box: CN Southeastern Asia NT 2008, bar code 010-11114-00 From Nuvi: City Navigator Southeastern Asia v2.0 NT, CN_SEA_NT_TA200709 Now that I have seen this, it looks like the map sold in the US as 2008 is a fairly early 2007 map. The rural detail is quite good, but the bridge mentioned in the thread is definitely not present. I don't know when versions 3 and 4 mentioned in the thread were released. CN Southeastern Asia NT 2008, bar code 010-11114-00 is useing ESRI V8.1 mapset.

CN Southeastern Asia NT 2008, bar code 010-11114-00 is useing ESRI V8.1 mapset. This seems implausible to me. The one I have with that bar code has a sticker saying TeleAtlas on the box and having compared this map with ESRI v.9 they are very different, with more rural detail on the SE Asia map. In the map version displayed on my NUVI and mentioned above I would assume that 'TA' in TA200709 means TeleAtlas. Are you suggesting that TeleAtlas used the ESRI mapset? Then ESRI got the boot from Garmin and TeleAtlas, Then we all seen the price tumble, 11000m 7000, now just 4500. #21Posted 2009-07-06 03:11:07 Quote S.e.a. version 2 =335 S.e.a. version 3 =363 There is no version 4 yet. Thanks Basjke, those are the numbers I'm referring to, but was looking for the ID number for Thailand Ver 9 #22Posted 2009-07-06 07:46:11
Just open the map and the FID # and PID # are there
#24Posted 2009-07-06 10:44:41

Garmin City Navigator SE Asia NT v4.00 is marked as TA200810, is definitely not a ESRI Thailand Street Map v9.0 NT map set.
