Maybe the boy is learning how to work in a coffee shop so that there or elsewhere, he'll put a Thai out of work.

Unfortunately 'yes' training is considered work. So is just signing a piece of paper in connection with work, like signing for receipt of goods at a place of work. The word coffee shop make me always think of the drug ones in amsterdam, but it means normal coffee in thai, thnx god!
