So to link up with other threads (Pattaya Forum) don't take a taxi in Pattaya - stick to baht busses and pay the farang fare.

Investigative officers from Phlutaluang police station said that the middle-aged foreigner had been attacked with a sharp object which had nearly severed his head, and caused extensive injuries to his chest, arms and hands. Although officers said that the motive was probably robbery, it was notable that Bt5,440 was found in the man’s trouser pockets. --TNA 2005-03-02 #29Posted 2005-03-03 14:04:07 Orion76, on 2005-03-02 22:43:51, said: geronimo, on 2005-03-02 20:18:04, said: Ningbojoe, on 2005-03-02 20:07:31, said: Just another disturbing story from Thailand! Taxi Driver Held for Murder of British Tourist
"PA" A Thai taxi driver has been arrested after the body of a British tourist, whose throat had been split, was found near the resort of Pattaya. The body of Liverpool chef Bernard Norman LeCourt, 52, was found in some bushes near a road in Chonburi province’s Sattahip district, 40 miles south-east of Bangkok, said police Major Kataphol Somnuek. “He died after his throat was cut deeply by a knife,” said Kataphol, adding that the victim’s money, camera and video camera had been stolen. Police arrested a taxi driver who is suspected of killing the Briton after picking him up in Pattaya last night and allegedly robbing him in order to repay a huge gambling debt, Kataphol said. The suspect faces the death penalty if found guilty of murder. LeCourt travelled to Thailand alone on February 24 and was scheduled to leave toda #31Posted 2005-03-03 16:01:52 meadish_sweetball, on 2005-03-02 10:54:39, said: Moral of the story: - Dont gamble - If you do, pay your debts - Dont go too close to Pattaya - Wear a titanium collar - If you find yourself associate everything with terrorism, see a professional And dont use Pattaya Taxis #32Posted 2005-03-03 23:03:04
Taxi driver admits to killing Briton
Published on March 03, 2005 A 50-year-old British man was robbed and stabbed to death on Tuesday night, allegedly by the driver of a taxi he had hired in Pattaya to take him to Don Muang Airport, police said yesterday. The body of Normal Bernard was spotted by a passer-by along the side of a soi off the Sattahip-Nakhon Ratchasima highway at 9am yesterday. He had been stabbed 11 times in his chest, arms and hands and his head was almost severed, said Major Thossapol Somnuek, an investigator at Tambon Pluta police station in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district. Police quickly arrested the driver, Jatuphon Bancheun, 26, at home after finding a receipt on the body from a taxi charter company. Jatuphon confessed to murder and robbery. The receipt indicated Bernard had chartered a taxi from Enjoy Travel Soi 8 Co and left Pattaya at 7pm on Tuesday. A company spokesman said Jatuphon had only worked there a few days. #33Posted 2005-03-04 01:00:13 sriracha john, on 2005-03-03 16:03:04, said: Enjoy Travel Soi 8 Well I never, that's where my missus worked #34Posted 2005-03-07 09:25:21 manquemanque, on 2005-03-02 22:20:47, said: This sort of thing happens in the US every day. Just a note I live near Phutualung in Sattahip and a Thai friend of mine who works as a doctor in the area told me a month a go that on average there is a murder a month in the area. Heavily occupied by Thai Naval personal who have access to weapons and drink heavily
It may have nothing to do with being Farang but more to do with aggressive behaviour following excessive drinking. we all know Thais can't hold their drink #37Posted 2005-03-07 22:34:57 Beachbunny, on 2005-03-07 09:25:21, said: manquemanque, on 2005-03-02 22:20:47, said: This sort of thing happens in the US every day.
