Here's what happened:

I had booked 2 one way tickets with orient thai airlines for december 28th. Total 3300 baht. The tsunami hit and the flights were cancelled. Orient Thai called and told me I could go to the airport or come into the head office for my refund. I went to the head office and filled out the refund form. The form was signed by one of the office workers and myself, with the refund collection date as Feb 25.

You can probably guess what happened next. Went back to the office on Feb 25 and my refund wasn't there. One of the office workers says "maybe" next week. I asked her "maybe?" She gives me the thai smile. The girl who signed my refund form wasn't there. Their english is very limited so I got a thai friend to call and talk to them. The accounting department told her that I will get my refund, but they don't know when. Checked my account on friday (they are going to put it directly into my thai bank account) and it wasn't there. Not sure how to proceed other than calling them every week. Any ideas?

Go in to their office and refuse to leave till you either get your money back, get a definite timetable to receive it, or get a Manager dragged out from the back to placate you.

Remember, the front desk girls are just there to protect their Manager- (who is out back with his finger up his bot) - from actually having to grubby himself on clients.

They have no authority do anything.

Be un-Thai - cause a scene. It usually works, and even if it doesn't you still feel better.

3300 baht?

No wonder they're being so tight with the money. Thats about how much their ancient aircraft are worth.
