Honda city any day......had the i.dsi model for two years now from new and no problems.....dealers are excellent for service etc....
Would imagine the vtec is even better..... the city has all you would need. Excellent in city and long runs.....good aircon....mega good on fuel Dealer also put in remote alarm, a brake lock and the smoked glass for sun protection all for free.....after a bit of haggling.... Go Honda any day....... #17Posted 2005-03-25 16:05:15
The Vios is a lovely car and very reliable.
My wife's friend with a Honda City was very keen to get rid of it,didi not like the handling. #18Posted 2005-03-25 18:24:53 Diggerbasher, on 2005-03-25 16:05:15, said: My wife's friend with a Honda City was very keen to get rid of it,didi not like the handling. Handling!!! We talking Ferrari's here??? #19Posted 2005-03-30 22:25:03
Vios outsells City 5 to 1, in fact it ousells both City and Jazz together.

I hired a Honda city before I got my pick up truck, if I had not bought a truck I would definately have gone for a City, I think they are very good cars and with the seating configurations , very versatile.
Never driven a Vios, but I think the City is a great car, even if it does remind me of a cockroach. #21Posted 2005-03-31 22:05:47
Berty, handling is actually Vios' strong point. No need to compare with Ferrari, but it beats bigger Corolla Altis, and perhaps even Camry. From the driver's point of view.
Honda, on the other hand, has that magic CVT transmission. #22Posted 2005-04-14 23:08:12
Jazz looks great ( even in white which is hard to do ), both the City and Soluna are rather ugly.
Don't forget the added cost of leather re-trim and 17" rims. #23Posted 2005-04-15 11:19:04 shadscat, on 2005-04-14 23:08:12, said: Jazz looks great ( even in white which is hard to do ), both the City and Soluna are rather ugly. Honda, and Toyota are both good cars, but Toyota has Honda beat on Handling, and service. The Toyota Vios is a great car. I plan to buy one fully loaded with leather seats about 660,000 list price by the time you add all the options. The new ones comes out the end of July. The only difference between Thailand and the western world is that Thailand comes out with the 205 this July.[COLOR=blue]

Thanks #26Posted 2005-04-19 12:51:08

Had my Honda City VTEC for a couple of months now.preferred the 5 speed as I find the safest place to overtake a thai is through a corner, I regularly go Chiang Mai--Udon . Am getting average 15km per litre around town and 23km per on the highway, the trip in about 81/2--9 hrs so I dont hang about...handling is good but will improve after warrenty with touring struts and shockers...a flat spot at 2000---2500 rpm is my only complaint ,but can work around it (dont drop below 4000rpm)
As well Mr Honda has just given all new honda buyers 100,000 km roadside service FREE. All round ,pretty pleased with the car... #28Posted 2005-04-25 00:33:43
Just read that the current Jazz is due for replacement worldwide in 6 months. New model will be slightly larger. New Civic is also due soon perhaps you might want to wait for that instead.

I don't understand why anyone in Thailand would want leather seats as they get so ###### hot if the car is in the sun for any length of time. Getting back into the car is almost unbearabe for some 2 minutes or more. Am I missing something ?? #30Posted 2005-04-28 10:58:47
If you have a silver, white or any other light-coloured car as well as window film with 'cooling effect', plus cream leather seats, then it isnt so bad, Paul. Black or brown leather is a different story though.
Any thoughts on the Toyota Corolla Altis? I think it seems like a more sensible buy than the Vios myself - after all, most taxis are Corolla Limo or Altis and not Vios... There must be a reason for this? #31Posted 2005-04-28 14:21:23 meadish_sweetball, on 2005-04-28 10:58:47, said: If you have a silver, white or any other light-coloured car as well as window film with 'cooling effect', plus cream leather seats, then it isnt so bad, Paul. I think it seems like a more sensible buy than the Vios myself - after all, most taxis are Corolla Limo or Altis and not Vios... There must be a reason for this? Well from a price perspective, the Altis should be a nicer car. Here are listed new car prices .. Soluna Vios, 1.5L Top model, automatic, 659,000 Baht Corolla Altis, 1.6E, Top model, automatic, 843,000 Baht Corolla Altis, 1.8G, Top model, automatic, 995,000 Baht Altis is some 33% more expensive. I am renting a Vios right now. Not bad but feels just a tad tinny and the suspension is delicate going over bumps. Says it only has 7000 Km on it. #32Posted 2005-04-28 21:08:58
Altis is superior in many ways. First the space, then the high driving position, then power (1.8E model- 850k), then suspension, then interior, then little things like modern gearshift with "ladder" pattern, light sensor to illuminate instrument panel automatically, leather seats that can be easily cleaned, the climate control - you set the temperature and the air-con does it itself - it cools the car in less than a min and then slows down automatically. Also there's a separate vent for your tired feet.
In short it's just the class above Vios. #33Posted 2005-05-08 20:35:31
I own neither Vios nor City.
But I was a passenger in the front seat on each car on different occations. VIOS owned by a lady friend since new for about a year. City owned by my brother's company and for use by its employees as an errands car, was driven by my brother last week. My comments: VIOS: Tight leg room in the front seat, knees ALMOST knocking the glove box although I checked seat positions with regards to the rear seat space behind it. Odometer in the middle. Bumpy suspension and I have a friend whose father owns a VIOS gave me the same suspension comments. CITY: OUCH! My brother demoed the smooth 7 speed, something so amazing to me. You can + or - the speed in the manual mode(electronic speed changes), ride comfort good, great leg room. And has ULTRA Seats for flexibility. Original leather seats are nicer and better than VIOS leather seats in terms of tailoring workmanship. Not sure of the VIOS does have this feature or not. BTW, both cars were in Singapore. (country of origin: Thailand) #34Posted 2007-06-08 11:38:48
