This has been a re-occurring question by several posters in several locations, so I am placing the answer to make it easier to find.  

Here is  an on-line store called "Megagps" where you can purchase all kinds of GPS products including maps.  They carry "SEA/Thailand GPS SD card" for Garmin. Here's the direct link for the "map". Although I have bought from this company and have no complaints, I'm not promoting it or get anything from it.  Uhumm!...maybe I should have asked.

It works extremely well with my "Garmin Nuvi 270" which I bought while in the states. So far I have traveled all over Thailand and am amazed how accurate it is. The map covers a lot of territory. Check the website.

I will say you need to "register" it with "Garmin" after installation to get the "key" for it to work. All this done automatically while connected to a computer with live Internet connection. ITakes awhile to depending on connection speed. Instructions included. So it can't really be copied and be useful.  You also need to verify its compatibility with any GPS unit you have "BEFORE" you buy one.

I have used this map alot now in Thailand and have switched back to ESRI.

SEA V4.50 doesn't contain alot of the street names, or even Freeway names. But it does have alot of smaller side roads that ESRI is missing.

For outside Thailand it is great, But it is sure nice to know the street names. makes life alot easier to hear the name of the street to turn on. Then turn right on road.

I also switched back to the Esri map as I found the Sea 4.5 just unusable.It had particular problems with the toll and express ways in Bangkok,failed to give directions at critical points several times.
Also it missed many soi's in the area where I live in Pattaya.Even my village,one of the bigger ones on the east side which I guess was built some 10 years ago,was not completely on the map.The soi where is my house is non existing on the map.

I too now use only the ESRI map. SEA 4.5 has routing glitches and many points of interest are not on the map. Out here in the boonies it routes on some roads that are at best poor goat paths even with the "avoid dirt roads" turned on. They have a ways to go to catch up with ESRI. One nearby popular short cut for me that is a good paved road doesn't show on the SEA 4.5.

Agreed, ESRI Thailand Street Map is the only way to go. I have three (3) Thailand maps, ESRI / Garmin / Rotweiler, on my Nuvi 205 and invariably revert to the ESRI map. Wins hands down all the time.

I've got some sympathy with the above comments because I know the limitations of the SE Asia map only too well.  However, my village and its various side roads aren't on the ESRI map at all, so for my local area the SEA map is better.  I suppose the morale is that neither is perfect.

Hey don't get me wrong, SEAV4.50 is a great map and a huge step up to the plate for TeleAtlas, I see good things to come from them
Their maps only flaw is that there are not enough street names, and some old POI's.

I still just back and forth between them to find what I'm looking for.

I just got my hands on the new ESRI map with Junction veiw and 3D buildings to test out.
Will update soon.
