Hope we didn't give Toxin any ideas. That part about Shincorp patenting a machine for this might catch his fancy.
#82Posted 2005-04-01 22:30:58
It will give him a good excuse to monitor me too, even I don't drink!
And no baby making with the mouse on the computer any more. Does this man has a real job? Good payed he is!? #83Posted 2005-04-01 22:49:57
It is about as serious as closing down Patpong, Pataya, and all the bars in Thailand that solicit drunken and sexually situations...
Hmmm.... Let me see... I work in a Thaksin Government school, and let's see... I seen bottles of Sang Som, I went on Scout trips and the boys are in the back room with the blinds close and the bottles of Regency, and Thai Rummy gambling going on, while the girls and boys are left alone in the rooms next door... Not to mention, that every M-6 boy has already had sex with the LOCAL GIRL, not the INTERNET GIRL... so, what's wrong with this Thaksin Scheme? Coz his daughter has lost her virginity at Chula? :P and the computer is to blame? #84Posted 2005-04-01 23:53:17 george, on 2005-04-01 11:32:51, said: Thai Govt attacks drunk driving on the Internet BANGKOK: -- PM Dr Thaksin announced today a plan to make it illegal to use the Internet while affected by liquor or a drug, or to discuss sexually explicit matters on the Internet. The proposed bill will enable the Royal Thai Police to monitor internet traffic of those who use or abuse alcohol or drugs, Dr Thaksin said. The PM was confident that bill would be passed by the parliament and said “There is too much immoral activity between teenagers that begins in an internet chat room." Adding that studies from the health ministry showed the rise in teenage pregnancies mirrored the average rise in internet use among teens in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Chonburi. This bill follows several lately, passed by parliament to keep Thai society free from dark influences which threaten to change the culture. In recent weeks a clampdown has been ordered on high pressure water pistols as well as on advertising and promoting sexual enhancement products. The Thai prime minister was quoted saying "I myself have forbidden my daughter last week to use the internet after she drank a glass of wine" but refused to elaborate further on the nature of her internet activities. The internet cafe Community in Thailand fears a lack of income from beverage sales due to this measure. It's still not clear which products will be outlawed. Carlsberg and TCC Group of Thailand, producers of the Chang brand have calculated this could lead to an overall downturn of sales if the new bill is implemented. The Company already received opposition from Buddhist monks last week, when they proposed to list their stocks on the SET exchange. This latest measure might put another damper on their move to the stock exchange and has forced the major brewer to consider an alcohol free version of its popular beer to maintain profits. Internet usage has already been restricted by the Thai Internet Police to prevent youths from looking at sexual content. In this latest measure they will be aided by a software company from Nonthaburi Software Park, who has developed an "Internet logger" which logs all requests within Thailand. This system is unique in the world and has been developed in cooperation with Shincorp their main shareholder. Ngo's have complained already by the flagrant disregard for human rights, that this "Thai Big Brother" system represents. The PM dismissed opposition taunts that the cost would be excessive, saying he plans to use money raised from a special “lottery” to fund the project and would also direct funds away from the controversial “Elite card” system to help implement this within the next 3 months. Civil liberties groups say they will challenge the law in constitutional court. "The prime minister is trying to use this issue to distract people from his poor handling of the economy this year." said Somchai Chaiwannakhup, of the Thai Law Foundation. --Agencies 2005-04-01 Obviously an April Fool's joke! #85Posted 2005-04-02 02:48:20

INTERNET E-MAIL CENSORSHIP?? It's been happening for a while now.
I'm living in Thailand, and at Christmas I wrote a long and loving letter to my estranged wife in the UK. This was purely personal...very personal in fact, as I haven't seen her for a long time, and I made no reference to Thailand or anything political. Somewhere in the letter I remember I used the word f**k, though! I was using KSC as my ISP, and 2 days later I received an automated reply from KSC...I quote" "Your message has not been sent. It has been quarantined as it contains sensitive material." WE ARE BEING WATCHED! Rob #91Posted 2005-04-02 19:41:52
How typical for those in cosy secure democratic countries to mock this as a joke!
It's not a joke! Mail is really being censored. Already. Rob #92Posted 2005-04-02 22:23:01
Toxin is looking for total control of all media and communications.
That way he will not need any more elections. #93Posted 2005-04-03 05:30:04 robsamui, on 2005-04-02 13:22:38, said: INTERNET E-MAIL CENSORSHIP?? It's been happening for a while now. Gambling is not legal in Thailand soo is not lottery's as long as its not goverment who is behind it . Hope you all know its a big drag horse out there to legalize Casinos in Thailand. The Casinos are now located right at the other side of the borders to Cambodia. Somebody found out that their loosing Bath there and that Thais and Tourists are going over for a weekend trip using $.. Lets see if Pattaya is gonna get a playground for $ and who is gonna be behind it.. Its just Amazing how much double moral there is in the Thai politics and culture. And what is so god ###### wrong whit nudity/sex , the Tv Channals shows murder/blood/violence and all kinds of shit all the time. Were is the logic ? Not in the generation who is controling the boat at this time. Thailand is a great place right , if just the people voice got heard. Amazing Thailand |
