A friend of mine thought about people like me who lay around all day and do not much of anything.  So we had a bet, about washing hair.

So, I have not washed my hair in ten days!!!!  It is long hair, half way down my back, reddish brown, with that bit of sexy grey in there.

So, tonight i shall wash it.  It has been sortof dirty, a bit greasy, but I think (and from what I have read on the subject) my hair will have gone back into its natural roots.

And look good for it.

There is something in it - the first few days you feel greasy and unclean, then you just (as i did with long hair) put it in a pony tail, and then it gets a bit "god, i wash my body everday, but not my hair", going back to the eighties with that brilcreem wet gel look.

To be honest, I cannot wait to wash my barnet-  But from I have read, it is better not to wash your hair too much.

Am off to the shower to wash my hair.  I hope the natural oils have made it better.

Ive heard that too..that its good for the hair not to overwash. However, i cant handle more than 2-3 days without washing. My hair feels itchy and dirty otherwise. Usually ill wash it every 2nd day. Im not sure i could do a ten day stretch voluntarily :)

Eek. it just didn't feel itchy. just greasy whch is a no no for a few days but after no probs- by the way i did wash my body and bits through this sorta experiment - just to get the facts sure .  Off to wash it now - 8pm in Swissland - CSI on in an hour. shall come back with the results.  And lovely locks for sure.  Or perhaps the whole lot will just fall out.  It feels odd to take it out of its sort of plastic clip thingy.

I supposed if you live in different countries there are different ways of doing this.

Well is washed, smells nice, i use the old head and shoulers aloe vera shampoo.  Shall see the results when dry- I don't use a hair dryer.  Au naturel.  Maybe i need to wash it more than once.  Shall see.

Jeez, i sound odd!!!

No.   How the hel_l can you wash your scalp when you have hair half way down your back?

But I can tell you that after leaving it for the ten days and then washing it.

Already it feels nice and fluffy.
Much healther

I think, for me, that this worked out well.  Perhaps would not work out well in sweaty Thailand.

Shall go and wash it again and then swoon over the factor that my hair is better than yours, all you baldy types.

Got ten minutes before the X factor with my wee man michael bublé...

Ok washed it again

I can tell you . this is one of the most wonderful things that will happen in your wee lives.

Nice clean and fluffy and clean.  And it feels good with all those oils which were in there.  Natural oils.

And that fluffy fat thing will be sleeping in his mommas hair tonight - did he like it? did i like it? No, but i can tell you that my hair feels ten years younger.

I would say go for it to anyone who is up to it.  But make sure that you scrub your scalp well afterwards.

There may be a small animal hibernating in there a la Amy Winehouse.

Its been established that NOT washing your hair frequently is actually better for the hair to give natural hair oil time to reach the extremities in order to revive and protect it.  I think we have been hoodwinked by shampoo commercials honestly, the more you use most product, the quicker they "go off".

Here's my theory:

We all know and accept that purfume goes stale on the body after a period.  Perfume is used in shampoo, ipso facto, it too goes off after a few days, making you use more product in a never ending cycle, good for the shampoo makers, not good for your hair, but guess what, they now have a product that will fix the damage they did in the first place, but it costs more!

Strip out the excess shampoo/perfume build up in your hair, give it a rest.  Sleep with it in Olive Oil for a night and wash it out with mild, Johnson's baby shampoo or like.... you will be amazed.  In the interim, just rinse with warm water.

I go two-three days without washing my hair, I get it wet but no shampoo. But in this hot sweaty climate three days is my limit.

I haven't washed my hair in about 10 years... (other than my beard). :)  :D  :D

Actually, I've heard similar stories of maintaining good healthy hair by not washing too often. The Thai gals I know (who have lovely long hair) don't wash their hair every day, but they go to a salon to have it done professionally with special cleansers. I'm sure glad I don't have all that bother any more.
