What's the story on having adsense ads in the top post and other posts in every thread? If I'm not mistaken, having the same color font and size as regular text on a page is a reason for getting booted out of adsense. Yes you're going to get a lot of extra clicks, but you're also going to get a lot of unhappy publishers that don't get anything from the click as the visitor stays on their page for 2 seconds before hitting the back button.

We are currently moving around the ads and styling, and doing some A/B testing. We actually trying to reeduce the total number of ads showing up.
Please be patient with us for the moment. Cheers #3Posted 2009-10-29 13:18:40
Gotcha, just don't want to see you get booted for breaking adsense TOS.

Must admit I was also taken aback by that sudden 'feature' and had spent last 20 minutes trying to find out what dumb thing I did now to cause it. After getting the same thing in 3 browsers the coin dropped and found this thread.

Ads by Google
Is there any way i can turn ads off, so tired to see them pop up in the middle of a tread, getting worse i think #6Posted 2009-10-29 13:48:16 #7Posted 2009-10-29 14:35:00
Yes I agree that this way of placing ads should stop!
It was bad enough when TV placed ads after every first post in a topic but inserting an ad in individual posts to make it appear that the poster placed the ad goes to far!!! TV admin should concentrate on solving the issue of multiple e-mail notifications first of all (I got a triple notification for this topic). opalhort #8Posted 2009-10-29 14:37:02
Extremely annoying. The sooner these ads are removed the better.
At least for now change the background of the ads so it's not the same as the background of the posts. #9Posted 2009-10-29 14:44:55
As I have mentioned, our webmaster is doing some ad placement testing.
Thanks for your input, we are aware of some of the complaints and we hope to find a solution. Cheers #10Posted 2009-10-29 15:29:04
annoying as hel_l don't you think?

The administrators are trying to test different ad placement with as overall goal to reduce the amount of ads displayed.
Currently only using the Phuket and Phuket news forums for the tests. Test will run for about a week. Our excuses for any inconveniences! #13Posted 2009-10-29 15:33:44
And, yes, I have been looking for a Thai Bride for some time.

What ads?
#15Posted 2009-10-29 16:31:57
I am not sure if other people have this problem, but since today the google ads are getting very obvious and annoying. Stuck into posts, stuck between topics in the sub forums. Its really an eyesore.
Is this TV new style? Not useful. Mods, please inform. edit: Just posted this, and alrady a VisaCard ad in my post. What is going on? Its like a spam attack. Edited by EvilDrSomkid, 2009-10-29 16:32:51. #16Posted 2009-10-29 16:36:48

Very intrusive, when it's put right into our posts. You would think the plethora of ads which take up 2/3 of the top screen of each forum would be enough already. An annoying and disturbing trend which started about a year ago..... I know we have to make money, boys, but let's keep it in check.

We are actually reducing the number of ads, please bear with us when we are doing this tests.
Cheers #19Posted 2009-10-29 16:42:03
The ads inserted right into our individual posts are intrusive at best. This too-close connection implies a visual endorsement of the poster for whatever Gawd-awful ad might be thrown there. Utterly tasteless and intrusive.

We are doing some A/B testing to reduce the number of total ads, please see this topic:

We are currently testing, and the ad targeting should improve within a couple of days. Again, please be patient.

It's really horrible at the moment. Is it normal to test on a live server?
#25Posted 2009-10-29 18:48:38
Thaivisa might think it's popularity will win out over these awful distracting intrustions, but I for one won't bother logging on any more if it continues.
