Is it a police state you wish for? Or is it simply to be safe? If it's your safety then there are better ways to do it. I don't think anyone really wants a police state, even if it's intent is to keep you safe. For someone else to secure your safety is an impossiblity. Only you can do that. Besides, safety isn't worth the price of freedom.

in lee garden plaza at hat yai they have booths where they check all the cars and motorbikes for bombs...
the motor bikes r checked....not so properly i suppose...
only the bottom of the cars r checked...and very very rarely they wanna see the luggage compartment...
WTF...if i wanted to carry a bomb in, i would put it inside the car....
or maybe the resistance here isint rich enough to afford car-bombs....uncle osama hasnt called yet...

ive seen a lot of muslim thais in bangkok n even in south...
the current generation is not the extremist type and not as closed minded as the proper muslim form the mid-east.

we souldnt generalise the muslims as "the enemy".
maybe the terrorists happen to be muslims but it Does Not mean that all muslims r terrorists....i personally have many muslim friends...they abuse osama and saddam at any chance they get...

sorry if i offended some people, but i dont hear many Muslims defending their actions. I also have many Muslim friends, i am from Slough in the UK so nearly all my mates are either pakistani, bangladeshi or muslim... I may have several Muslim friends, but that does not stop one from seeing that there is a split between the Muslims and the rest of the world. It is not a racist argument... how can it be.. muslims are from many countries and racism is a nationalistic policy. The reality is that Muslims are attacking other religions because they want to separate themselves from the rest of the world... that is racism.

If you think about how police can get away with frying people's balls and pissing on them, and shamelessy claim moral superiority, and then snatch in the broad daylight the only person who tried to help, what feelings that might induce in people who feel closely affiliated with the victims? After that violence only feeds on itself.

Thanks for the input. You have a point, though not sure how true some of them are.

But it is really difficult to think of any excuses for those sort of behaviours.
Like seeing when innocent people being decapitated and telling myself that those people had no alternatives. And they are victims themselves as well.

I understand that there are quite a few million muslims in Thailand. Can't they just group up and voice out. And do something in a different way if they think they are so unfairly treated. The isaan people are poor. A lot of people are poor in Bangkok. Should they all start killing people?

I am a Malaysian and travel to Hat Yai quite often and this is what I told the guard that check my bike, I have got a bomb in my engine? What are you going to do about it...., they just laugh. This do not just happen in Lee Gardens Plaza but in Carrefour, Central as well. I think they are just doing it because they are doing it and its has never been effective. I was in Manila last year and I have to say that the security check in Manila is way much more efficient than what they are doing in Hat Yai. I think with this I really hope that the security dept of these complexes will look into. I think they should also look into the bag of customers going into any buildings as well.
