I am aware that you must obtain a re-entry permit, (with a non B visa) before you leave the country, in order to return without cancelling said current visa, I want to ask if this can be done at the Immigration office at the border you plan to cross, (prior to crossing) or is it ONLY available at the Immigration office that handles the issuing visas in your province ?? Thanks in advance, I think I know the answer, but just want to double check..

If you have a single entry non-B visa then obtaining re-entry permit will preserve your permission to stay. You have to obtain from local immigration office. With multiple entry visa it is not a problem as you get new 90 day permission to stay on entry whilst visa is valid.

You can now only get it at your own immigration office and no longer at the border.

Only in real emergencies are people able to get it at the airport. I have so far only seen 1 report of a person who manged to it.

I have a Non-B visa but have just left my current position, so need to leave the kingdom within 7 days I believe.

Or is that from when I get the letter back from wp people canceling it.

Also is the re-entry form online anywhere to print off
Finally will any border do, ie Mae Sai

Cheers

You have 24 hours from end of work to leave unless you apply for a 7 day extension of stay. There is no more grace period of 7 days.

If you have a Non B Visa it is still valid if you finish work.
If you have an extension of stay you have to leave on the day your job finishes or apply for a 7 day extension.
The TM8 form for the Re Entry Permit is Here

Thanks for the prompt response,

My visa is valid (single entry) until sep 2010, and not an extension, does that mean I do not have to leave ?

I very much doubt that you have a single entry valid until Sept.2010. There is no such thing.

You cannot obtain a single entry 12 month Non-B visa. Do you hold:
1. 12 month multi-entry non-B visa (issued by Thai embassy/consulate abroad) or
2. 12 month extension of stay based on employment (issued by Thai immigration)?

If (1) you can stay until your permission to stay expires and then do border runs for new 90 day entries until visa expires.
If (2) you have to leave the country on the day your employment ends or obtain 7 day extension from immigration.

Doh, your right,

I got a single entry Non-b from KL in July and an extension to stay on Sep30 until 30 Sep 2010

I still have wp so technically, I could finish work early next week and get re-entry first

Clear as mud really,
Cheers

He was previously asking about getting a B Visa in Vientienne begining of July. Maybe he got one and extended it at the end of September.
We need him to confirm what he has.

- If your extension of stay is based on employment, your permission to stay will terminate on the day your employment ends - so have to leave that day (or obtain 7 day extension).
- If your extension of stay is based on marriage to Thai, you can stay as loss of employment does not affect basis upon which extension was granted.

Ok, so when I "leave work" my extension is canceled and I must leave the country, correct

So a re-entry tm8 is no good for me as my original 3 month visa has run out and I will get a 15 day at Mae Sai if I drive up there.

Or can apply for Non O in Vientienne which I can also drive to

Sorry if the answers are all here already, but am just trying to make sure I get it right.

Again, thanks for your help

If Joy is your Wife and Thai you can apply for a Non O Visa.
Vientienne will only issue a single . Kl will issue a Multi Entry.
Vientienne will issue a Double Entry Tourist Visa free of charge.
Assuming you do have a Thai Wife you can get 12 month extensions from Immigration if you meet the financial requirements.
