The newest version of the Thailand street map (ESRI) is now widely available.
Quote * Add more than 1,000 images of new Junction View
* Update approximately 500,000 POIs (Point-of-Interest) for the whole country that have been either opened and closed from the past year by actual field survey
* Add and update about 10,000 kilometers of road data
* Add the exits in Highway Mode for major roads, not just the highways
* Add entrances and exits on major buildings and landmarks
* Add local voice navigation for all 4 regions of Thailand (for compatible devices)
* Add about ten thousand of new telephone numbers
* Improve map data quality
* Miscellaneous improvements
google is your friend.
Having now had a look at the map, I find that as per TSM v9, the map from SE Asia v4.5 has far more detail of small sois etc around where I live, and in other parts (not all) of rural Thailand.
Cannot comment on the detail in the major built-up areas.

The Junction View/Lane Assist only works at the newer units like the Nuvi's (1350 and 1350T, 1370T,1390T, 1450, 1490T, 1690, 755T, 765T, 775T, 785T, 855 and 855T) for as far as I know.
The price quoted for the new ESRI V 10 map has been reduced to 3000 Baht so it looks like that the competition from Garmin's South East Asia map which also covers Thailand has had an effect on pricing.

This is what Eagle GPS in Chiangmai is quoting as the price for the new V 10 map - see copy of their message posted on the GT Rider site:
ESRI released the map update for TSM. Changes to the newest version (V.10):
* Add more than 1,000 images of new Junction View
* Update approximately 500,000 POIs (Point-of-Interest) for the whole country that have been either opened and closed from the past year by actual field survey
* Add and update about 10,000 kilometers of road data

I just got an email from the person i bought my V9 map from. He's sending my V10 update in the post tomorrow. So there are no worries about ordering through Thaivisa classifieds.

Just installed TSM v10.0 on my Nuvi 205. Does anybody know what the extra "Exits" map is used for, contains a rather erratic highways only map. Everything is a straight line, no curves and rounded contours.

Pirate ones don't work on my garmin. The map needs my garmin model details before it works. If it's a pirte one that he has then hacked so it works for me then so be it. I don't have the skill to hack the source code or whatever needs doing.

Not hard to relock them same as the Rotweiler ones. But I admit less likely.

Can anyone give me an assessment of the SE Asia v 4.5 versus ESRI version for Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai area? Have the ESRI version in my Zumo 550 but find it less detailed in rural areas compared to the likes of google maps, BING etc.
Posted 2009-12-15 21:55:05
Esri' v10 has added alot new roads, but still lag's behind SE Asiav4.5 for Kms of total road coverage.
That said, After heavy use of both maps I have been useing Esri maps for about 90% of my routeing, with SE Asia filling in the small roads left out.
SE Asia V4.5 only has 1 big problem ( lack of street names) Once this is fixed, they will have a great route map.
Posted 2009-12-16 10:16:57
Near my home is a shortcut to highway 201 that is a very good paved road. That road is not on the SE Asia V4.5 map. On the other hand, there are some small village roads that are on the SE Asia V4.5 map and not on the ESRI map. The biggest problem with the SE Asia V4.5 map is the routing. It often routes down some goat paths that I would be afraid to take my car on. I'll keep the ESRI map.

Just bought a version 9 ESRI map, as the ver 10 will not support my 60 csx fully, this was told by the shop in BKK, any body with a 60csx has the same problem? My gps was bought in Singapore, is that the reason?

Several people installed the version 10 IMG-file on their Garmin Mobile XT and reported that the search functions didn't work. This was also my own experience. This glitch might also be related to the bit older navigation software on the 60csx. As for me, it has nothing to do with the fact that it is bought in Singapore. The map seems to be working perfectly on 2xx and higher devices.
I've recently found out that the Mapsource version 10 works perfectly on Garmin Mobile XT when being uploaded from Mapsource. This might work for you too.
