Hi all, I'm new to the forum but I've been in Thailand about 3 years now.  I have been relying on tourifst visas for that timem but with all the new laws I'm trying to switch up to a student visa.  I am taking a language course and the school has already applied for a visa for me.  My questions:

Is there any chance that the embassy could turn me down for the visa after getting the acceptance letter for the visa from the ministry of education?

And is the thai embassy in vietnam, am i likely to encounter much resistance?  Are they strict there?  I have no experience other than in Laos.

Thanks a lot everybody.

With the correct papers from the school you should not have a problem.

I was in Hanoi in July, and I found the guys at the Thai Embassy to be courteous and efficient.  My Tourist Visa took one day - I submitted my application in the morning and it was waiting for me the following afternoon.  They will ask to see your flight details out of Vietnam, so include a copy of your ticket with your application.  Two other things:  you will need to get a visa approval letter [go to www.Vietnam-Immigration.Org, or vietnamvisaexpress.com for this - it will cost about 25USD including handling charge], and get your one-month visa [for another 25USD] at the airport in Vietnam;  and take USD with you, it is the preferred currency.  Enjoy the bread.  They sure know how to bake baguettes!
