Thanks for advice

The insurance is on the car, not the person. You will definitely be insured for third party injuries, which is the minimum legal requirement.

Further insurance would depend on whether your girlfriend has purchased any extra insurance or not. If she has, it will also depend on whether the insurance requires a Thai license or not.

Read her insurance to check if you are covered with uk driverslisence. keep a copy of it.

Until you have been here 3 months you can legally drive with an international drivers lisence. then you would need a thai one.

Insurance is on the car, but can be limited to one or two persons. I was offered this when I got my new Honda Accord in 2008, and would have saved 5000 baht a year with this limitation

If she has only compulstory insurance on the car, you are covered only for 50'000 Baht, personal healt, no property damage. Culd be expeisive, if you get involvet in a accident. If the car isn't correct insured, go and buy a real 3rth partie insurance, Akane for example, cost about 2'400 Baht in your name for one year (even car isn't in your name). No problem and you are covered for tirth partie to 10 Mill per accident and 2 Mill property damage and 100'000 Baht bailbond.
