I was just reading SBK reply in an other thread and just thought did any of you here who are married to Thai males get any Sin Sot (dowry) when you got married.
There have been loads of threads about this from the mens perspective, with some of us trying to explain that its the thai custom ect..... but if thats true it should to for you as well should'nt it?

Hi Random, no we didn't have a wedding so I didn't get any money (too bad, I am worth quite a bit, I think!
Just realized I should probably explain myself a bit. Dear hubby wanted to have a big wedding but when he told me it would be between 1000-1500 people I said "No way!!!". So, if you just get married at the district office, no sin sot. Doesn't matter if you are thai or not, the sin sot is part of the wedding ceremony. No wedding, no money. Thanks sbk, just wondering. We had about 1200 people at ours and "show" money. Just never thought of it from diferent perspective before. You should of gone for it I can just imagine the convesation when you asked his mother how much she would give you for marrying her son

Me and the hubby havn't had the 'Big Day' as yet, we're just married legally but I know when we do have our day it will be pretty big with lots of peeps. There won't be a dowry, but it's traditional to give cash here instead of gifts so I'm sure we'll have lots of cash after, the thing is with the wedding my hubby has planned for us we'll be paying it off forever!!
