I just noticed speedtest.net lists a test server in Phuket and other provinces now. How long has that been there? (Of course this will show the speed from Phuket to Bkk and back to Phuket, hence the 450 miles)

Pretty Pathetic, especially for a major satellite server company...

Yep it is definitely connected.I just watched a youtube video posted in the "pictures of finished houses" topic and after 5 minutes it had streamed already the first 38 seconds.I am on true 8 MB connection.

I'm not sure what it's worth, but here are test results going the other way, from where I am now near San Francisco to San Francisco, then from me to the sever in Bangkok and then Phuket using Comcast 25mb/4mb. Several tests during different times of day were all more or less the same, except for Phuket which varied  a bit.

Here is an interesting series of tests which show the rate of slowing as we trace the route backwards from San Francisco to Bangkok. Look at the sudden drop in speeds once we hit Thailand!

I had to download 3 programs (Christmas pressies) over the course of the day, all from the same server in the US.  No screen shots, but over the course of three hours went from 150MB/s (quite reasonable on ToT's 2Mb/x), to 76MB/s, and now finally, 16MB/s.  Welcome back to dialup.  BBC3 won't stream (missing the Christmas eve concerts) and Youtube is no long Mytube - impossible.  Oh well, it fun while it lasted.
