Big One on tomorrow (Saturday 20th February) The Kor Royal Cup, which is the equivalent of the English Charity Shield
5pm Saturday 18th Feb Muang Thong United v Thai Port Supachalasai Stadium (National Stadium) Bangkok Also televised live on NBT 11 should be a crowd of about 20 000 #27Posted 2010-02-20 22:31:07
Was there today. Approx. 10,000 people. Not a bad game although a lot of hard kicks/injuries and a so so referee, just bad not one sided.
Muang Thong won 2-0. Worst was the 50 Port FC hooligans which stopped the game before it was over. Very uncool and some scary hard hitting stuff even kicking police incl. 1,000 people trying to get out of a small exit at once. They had some serious fireworks, sticks and other stuff to hit/throw with. Several heavy fights. It happened across from where I was sitting, but the Port FC "fans" even made it to our side of the field although they luckily could not get on the tribune. Not enough police, security or barricades. If the stadiums are not equipped for it, I foresee a large problem withe these "fans" in the TPL. Pity.

Crowd Violence at the Kor Royal Cup A horror night for Thai football at the Kor Royal Cup. The match was abandoned in the 80th minute when Muang Thong scored their second goal and violence erupted in the crowd. Thai Port players thought the 2nd goal should be disallowed due to a handball. The Thai Port fans started to throw bottles and fireworks into the ground. The match stopped and the situation got worse when a Thai Port fans broke the fence and attacked MTU fans, some jumped off the stand to run away. With small group of policemen and security staff, the situation were uncontrollable. The fighting was getting bigger. Some Thai Port fans destroyed stadium property and were trying to burn down MTU flag. Pichet Mankong, President of Thai Port FC asked the fans to stop the violence through stadium speaker and so did Thai Port players. It went on for approximately 30 minutes until Thai Port fans finally calmed. President of Thai Port announced to take full responsibility. The team forfeited to Muang Thong United. Ong-art Kosinka, Secretary General, Football Authority of Thailand urges for a harsh penalty handed to Thai Port fans. There is possibility that Thai Port fans will be banned from the ground in future matches. The video tapes of the match will be collected for consideration. Reporters said some Thai Port fans carried weapons into the ground. Sasom, the coach of Muang Thong attempted to help the situation, but also momentarily lost is temper at the Muang Thong coach after a brief discussion with him. Some Munag Thong fans have been injured as they were assaulted by groups of Thai Port fans, the extent of injuries are yet to be released. The Thai football community await the response of the Football Association of Thailand. Many are calling for Thai Port to be banned from representing Thailand in the upcoming AFC Cup. Conflicts of this seriousness have never before occurred at Thai football matches. The crowds are famed for their sporting and inclusive nature. As the popularity of Thai football booms this disastrous night brings a decisive moment for the way football will be run in Thailand. from www.thaileaguefootball.com coaches comments on the weekends matches Sisaket 1-1 TOT Cat Kim Giang (Staff Sisaket) - We all fulfilled our duties well. The players followed the game plan well and had a chance to score more, but in the end I am satisfied with 1 point. Narong (Coach TOT Cat) - The atmosphere here in Sisaket is great, the fans are great. We are sure that Sisaket will improve and do well this year. We are satisfied with 1 point from this away match. Buriram PEA 1-1 BEC Tero Thonket (Staff Buriram PEA) - We should have won this game but we lost concentration for a while and the drew level. It's ok, the next game will be better than this one. Tawan (Coach BEC Tero) - This match was ok. For the first match of the season everything went well. I am satisfied with the performance of the team. Samut Songkrahm 1-0 Bangkok Glass Somchai (Staff Samut Songkrahm) - This match wes very intense to the point of aggression from the Bangkok Glass players. The referee didn't give yellow or red cards when they were required. The players showed good spirit and and I asked them to push forward for the win and they did it. We are not inferior, our players did really well. Surachai (Coach Bangkok Glass) - We each had a strong half in this game. In the first half we were better but couldn't score. They don't have any star players but work well as a team, it shows that in the 16 Premier League teams no team can be discounted. If you win or lose it's just part of the game and the coach needs to fix it for the next match. Off the pitch we need to be more professional and separate the crowds properly because we don't want anymore problems. Muang Thong United 1-0 Navy Rayong Procureur (Manager Muang Thong United) - They played a very defensive game which made it tough for us to play normally. We expect we will have to play many matches like this this season. The match was not very entertaining to watch because of their game plan. Most importantly we got the 3 points. Amonkert (Coach Navy Rayong) - We played defensively as we can't match MTU in attacking play. We tried to prevent them scoring but couldn't do it. Next week we will bring in a new player from France who has played with Paris Saint Germain. I have to resign now as we have not won any points after 3 matches. The new coach will probably be Somsuk Akison, my assistant. Thai Port 3-2 Police United Wattana (staff Thai Port) - I have to congratulate the players for following the tactics well. It was like an away match, we knew they would be attacking us. This win really gives the players confidence for the league and the AFC Cup. Chayong (Coach Police United) - We went down a goal so early, the third minute. Then after 2 goals it knocked the wind out of us, but I have to say that the players did well, we just need to fix some small details. We are not far into the season, I'm confident we'll get better. Pattaya United 1-2 Chonburi Tawachai (Staff Pattaya United) - The match was played in a good spirit as it is a derby match between 2 teams from Chonburi. Many people may say that we played the match too defensively but we tried to attack from the flanks and not from the midfield as they are far stronger than us in this area. Overall the players did a good job. Jaded (Coach Chonburi) - We conceded a goal too easily in the first half which increased the pressure and intensity as it is a derby match. At half time I told the players focus and start over. We created the opportunities to score and took the match. #37Posted 2010-04-08 16:26:36
Hi Nigbon, is there any team playing now in Kanchanaburi? I understand TOT have moved from there, which is disappointing. Always a fair crowd when they played the home matches.

Any one got any attendance figures for the different divisions. Every club seems to have increasing attendance. Biggest premier league crowd is maybe about 20 000, average is maybe 5000. If you check in a couple of months the figures will be bigger, Thai football is in the middle of a boom. Div 1 and Div 2 clubs are also pulling several thousand. www.thaileaguefootball.com Edited by Nigbon, 2010-04-14 20:39:54. #43Posted 2010-04-14 20:44:46
