Thai Visa is a business and it is not their responsibility to verify whether a business is legit or not. You pay your fees and do your advertising.

I'm sure that profit drives everything and that Expat Motors never expected to be in this position. That said, they are in this position and owe their customers compensation. No doubt they will go belly up for their poor judgment. I feel sorry for the customers who put their trust in this company.

May not be Thai Visa's responsibility but it may have an affect on the other advertisers as people might start thinking about how reliable they are.

Exactly, as the site is aimed at helping "expats", even the site sponsors.

Well guys, it sounds like you've got it all worked out. Judge, jury and executioner, typical Thai Visa style.

I'd just like to clarify a few points. Firstly we are not a sinking ship, failing business, going belly up etc, far from it. There are no plans to close the business, flee etc as suggested by the "experts" on the forum. Business goes on as normal, all be it a bit quiet at the moment as it always is at this time of year, but the order books are looking pretty good for the coming months. The car rental branch is at capacity as it always usually is.

I personally live in the UK these days, have done so for the past 3 years mainly to run a couple of businesses I have here, and to put my kids through school, not that it's of anyone's business. 15 years of being in Thailand made me feel like a break. I have semi regular trips to Bangkok, and may plan to move back in a few years time. The day I went to the UK I made sure everyone knew and it's clearly stated on the main page of our website. I have competent staff running the business and am in daily contact with the Bangkok office.

The 10 people effected by the issue currently being discussed will be compensated one way or another, they have to be dealt with all at the same time, it would be unfair to be selective. There is an on going court case as already mentioned, and as also mentioned I'm working on other ways of off loading these vehicles and getting a decent return to the buyers. In the meantime if they decide to persue their own legal action then that is down to them like Mr. P doing down in Phuket. I'd probably do the same myself. They have all been told this and know where they stand.

There seem to be a few name callers, flamers etc here who have been posting here, hiding behind their online pseudonyms. I imagine these are people who have enquired to us to buy a car over the years and may have been shocked by the cost of vehicles here compared to their home countries leaving a bad taste in their mouths, probably can't afford what they want, or were unable to secure finance, but I can only speculate on that. Some people just have to be D*cks on online forums! If anyone wants to take exception to Tim in the office then I suggest you get from behind your computer screen and pay the man a visit in the office in Bang-Na.

Regarding the Thai Visa advertising. I think we pay 3K a month to advertise here, and in truth doesn't bring us much business compared to Google Ads or the Bangkok Post amoungst others. If the powers that be decide to ban the Ads for whatever reason then so be it. I don't think we'll be losing any sleep over it. Most here seem to treat it as a privilege for some reason. Anyone can advertise if they are prepared to pay!

To Barry: I thought your issue had been resolved a long time ago as I haven't heard from you since early last year. The circumstances surrounding that vehicle are exceptional, and seriously doubt you have anything to worry about. However it's unfortunate you can't sell it on yet. You can always email me.

My phone numbner is clearly displayed on the website front page as it always has been, not exactly a state secret, and calling Interpol about VAT?? Please! However I did throw a fag end on Silom a few years back, you may be able to get me for that!

Anyway I think I've summed up most of my thoughts that I wanted to express here, so in your own time pick them apart and "Flame On!"

Regards
Andy Wing

Why are you sure he's not in Thailand? Anyone knows for sure that he has left the sinking ship?
Hi There
I know for sure, remember i have been trying to sort this for years.

Hmmmm, the plot thickens. Hang in there. :)

Andy Wings uk phonenumber is *************

When Expatmotors export vehicles, they dont seem to deduct Thai VAT. So wonder if any exported vehicles are still owned by thai financecompanies? If so, OP could be better off with involving Interpol.

It is not possible to export a car under finance. it must be de-registered through the department of transport. this cannot be done while the car is under finance.

I have never had any dealings with Ex-Pat Motors and and am very glad of it. It appears that the facts are that there are ten unfortunate people who have serious problems.

Andy says that they will be compensated. Saying it doesn't make it so. Three years without resolving serious OBVIOUS problems that are no fault of the customer is really stretching it. When I read that all problems have been taken care of, then Ex-Pat Motors will have restored their credibility.

Speculation about an on-going court case will not be beneficial to any of the parties concerned.

Tim from Expat Motors has asked me to issue this statement on behalf of Expat Motors. Thai Visa Member name : ExpatMotorsTim

This is Tim from Expat Motors, I would like to clarify some of the points raised in this thread. Many of the comments are going off topic and facts are becoming lost in speculation and opinion.
3-4 years ago we realised that we had a problem with a supplier, he became greedy and this problem arose. From the moment we knew there was an issue we used alternative suppliers and started to find a solution. After it became clear that mediation was going no where we opted for the legal route. As soon as we were aware that this unfortunate situation could not be easily resolved easily we notified all involved . As many of you will know the Thai legal system is very slow. It is highly frustrating for all involved but there isn't anyway we can speed up this process. There is an alternative that we will be discussing with anyone involved which may offer a more speedy resolution.
Some of the issues I would like to raise as they would seem to be lost in the majority of this thread are:
Some of the people involved have sought independent legal advice on our recommendation. Their representatives have been in contact with our lawyers and they are happy with the way the case is progressing.
We have been forthcoming with information and assistance to the individuals involved and their legal representatives.
We have not shirked our responsibilities. We are fighting this case through the proper channels, it would be detrimental to our case to make any out of court arrangements for individual cars.
We have continued to supply new and used cars to a large number of very happy customers and would not let ourselves fall foul of rapacious criminals again.
It is equally frustrating for us as it is for the individuals who still do not have their legal registrations. Our goals are the same, a resolution to this problem that has hung around our necks for far too long already.
